I know I oſten put in our newsleer my thanks and appreciaon to those who give their me to our school. I have been in this posion for 3 years now and sll I am hearing of people helping out in ways I didn’t inially realise. I guess this is what comes with living in such a small and close community. Once students leave our school, past students and parents sll have a close connecon to our school. So once I again I really want to thank each and every person in our community who helps out in many wonderful ways – those who are oſten seen maintaining our grounds, those who are doing the background work in preparaon for the fete with the organisaon of sponsors and the Mystery Holiday, those who help in our school, P&F and Parish fundraisers and to all of the school community, including staff who put in such a great effort. Can I please ask that if you do see someone doing something great, say thank you and tell them they are doing a great job. A lile praise goes a very long way. This term is going to be very busy with events. Next week Cathy Drummond will be conducng singing work- shops with all students between 9 and 11 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday night, students will join with students from the Quilpie College to perform at the Hall from 6 pm in a concert held in conjunc- on with the Posive Minds Acvies run by the Quilpie State College. The following week on Tuesday 27 th October Musica Viva is holding a concert and workshop with our students at the Shire Hall. On Tuesday night there will be a community concert, Gypsy Tober at 6.30 pm. Students will also be involved during the night presenng the skills they have learnt in the workshops. Our annual School Fete will soon be upon us. The social calendar is so full in Quilpie we will unfortunately have a number of families away. As this is the one major fundraising event for our school we are asking everyone to pull together. It is a great night and the drawing of the Mystery Holiday is a highlight. The Quilpie and District Swimming Carnival will be held on Friday 20 th November. As this carnival is run by our school we will be seeking people to assist with seng up, canteen and BBQ. It is with great excitement that we can share with you the news of our successful applicaon for the Gambling Fund Grant for the covered area at the front of our school. The P&F has been raising funds for many years for a project that will benefit our students now and into the future. The area is intended to be a mul-purpose area for play, assemblies, school and community acvies. As a final word this week I want to acknowledge the efforts of Steve Benne, principal of Thargomindah State School and the Thargomindah State School P&F Associaon for all of the work they have done in the prepara- on, fundraising, and running of the Thargomindah Sports Camp. This is a massive undertaking by one school and is certainly a credit to them all, to have connued this camp over 25 years. I have been to approximately 10 of these camps over the years and this year’s camp was as successful as the best that I can remember. This year approximately 130 students aended, equalling the aendance of the earlier days, the coaches were of a very high standard and the organisaon superb. All of our students parcipated with enthusiasm and thor- oughly enjoyed the week.
