FROM THE PASTOR
In our gospel reading this weekend, we hear the story of Bartimaeus, a blind man who begs along the side of the road. In Jesus’ day, a physical ailment like blindness, was seen as a punishment from God and it excluded you from the community. Most people would not give you the time of day and those who suffered those inflictions were forced to beg for basic provisions. As Jesus passes, Bartimaeus knows who is passing and realizes his chance, “I want to see,” Bartimaeus proclaims. When Bartimaeus’ eyes are opened, he begins to follow Jesus. He feels a personal relationship with the Lord and becomes his disciple. How are we blinded? How are our “eyes” not opened to see the work of the Lord and how we can have a closer relationship with the Lord? Pray that our eyes are opened.
Other items to note:· Join Fr. Kruse this Sunday, October 24, at 12:30 PM at the church in Petersburg for a tour of the newly

· All our parishes have now had their annual auctions/celebrations. All went well and it was good to gather again. Thanks to those who organized the events. It is becoming more difficult to find people to plan and organize these events, so your willingness to volunteer is greatly appreciated.
· The Lord has blest us with some beautiful weather this autumn.

St. John, Peosta has a Hearing Loop for hearing aid users.
Hearing Loops allow people with hearing aids or cochlear implants to receive the sound from the sound system directly in their own hearing aids without having to pick up a separate listening device. Check with your audiologist to see if your hearing aid has a T-coil or Telecoil built in. (If you have hearing loss but do not have a hearing aid or if your hearing aid does not have a working telecoil setting to access the hearing loop, there are individual receivers available.)
