BackgroundBorn Elizabeth Catez. Known for her bad
temper which she overcame.
Became an award-winning pianist and musician.
Entered the Carmel of Dijon, France in 1901.
Influence• She was greatly
influenced by her fellow Carmelite & contemporary Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, whose autobiography Elizabeth read when she entered the Dijon Carmel.
Spiritual Doctrine• The Indwelling of the Presence of God
“Make my soul…Your cherished dwelling place.”
“It seems to me that I have found my heaven on earth, because my heaven is you, my God, and you are in my soul. You in me, and I in you.”

Death
• In 1906, Elizabeth died a painful death due to Addison’s disease, an adrenal disorder which had no cure at the time.
• Her last words: "I AM GOING TO LIGHT, TO LOVE, TO LIFE!"
Miracle• The healing
acknowledged in March 4 by Pope Francis for canonization was that of a Belgian woman who had a glandular disease.
