hea v ily the night b efure EO[uat walklng thro ugh the woo ds made for a v ery wet groundteam. Itw as a
challenging mis Eion b ec am 1 3 of the wet condi tions, hea v y wo 0ds and the fa ct that I had the full gambit of
p era 0nne! on the team. Tw 0 0fthe cadeta were youngsr (12 or 1:3max) and this weekend was their firEt
exposure to tbiE type of work

m 0 v 1 3 into handling SAR do gs. W 1 3 found E 3v eral clues to the mis EIng P era on but didn't find the target. sheended up being found in another Eecto r. How e¥ er the team' Etheory on where the t.arget s entered the woo ds
by examlning the fuotprtnta and analy zing the 0ther clues was sp 0t- 0n. I sp 0ke to the target after the debrief
EeEsio n and she confirm ed that the Epot they went into the wo 0ds from the ro ad was the point where we wer
looking. s 0 that gav 1 3 EOme COnE0lation to no t finding the targ et,
W 1 3 did end up finding an expended mo rtar flare which makes for 2years in a row finding cooI clues in the
woo ds 0f camp Ripley. W 1 3 didn't dia turb the flare but there were a few pi ctures taken using cell pho ne
cam era E. On saturday night, the GTI..lGTIvU and GTM:2 Etudents had to bull d and Eleep in shelters with
what 1 3v er they carried in their 24 hour pack. I ended up making an emergency sleeptng bag from a El..UYial
bl anket, poncho and duct tap e. I learned that you can't ha v 1 3 enough duct tap 1 3 , mOEquito netting andP ara- cord in your 24br pack.
The SAR instructo r called mine go0d and I w as jus tab out to climb in when they needed a v an driv er to take
