Anointing of the Sick TODAY - Sunday, July 5th and the first
Sunday of every month after the 12:45pm Mass, one of our priests will celebrate the
Sacrament of the anointing of the sick. If you or someone you know is expecting to have surgery, has been ill or is
elderly, please take advantage of this opportunity.
Get To Know Your Neighbor
I am as guilty as the next person when it comes to this. You go to Mass and slide into your pew – perhaps giving the person next to you a quick nod. You wish them peace – and say “have a nice day” before you leave – and sometimes you may even have a brief conversation with them. What is that person’s name? This happens more often than you think – followed by a visit or phone call to my office asking if we can put that person on the prayer list – or could we call them because you haven’t seen them at Mass for a few weeks. You give me a description and perhaps a first name – followed by you know who they are – I sit next to them at Mass every week. Well, with a little over 5,200 families in this parish I really don’t know everybody. So, the next time you slide in next to ole what’s his/her name – greet him or her and ask their name and remember, a parish is a microcosm of a community. Let’s shatter the myth that no-body knows their neighbor anymore. (I’ll work on it too!) Cathy Powers, (Parish Secretary and neighbor)

ROCK OUR YOUTH CENTER
EACH TUESDAY AND THURSDAY
AFTER THE 9AM MASS
Our seniors adjourn to the “Youth Center” after 9am Mass
where they play pool, dominos, knit/crochet, use the
computer lab, have coffee and goodies, solve the world’s
problems or just sit and visit with one another. Our “Knit
Wits” and “Happy Hookers” meet on Tuesdays to make
blankets and hats for several non-profit organizations that
serve those in need. You don’t need an invitation. Just
show up and meet new friends!
Each Sunday morning after the 7:30 and 9am Masses, join us in the plaza for coffee, juice, and goodies. This is a
great way to meet your parish family and make new friends. We look forward to seeing you there!

FAITH FORMATION “Called and Gifted,” a Faith Formation workshop, which helps participants discern the “Charisms” given at baptism through the Holy Spirit. A charism is a “gratuitous gift” given to Christians by the Holy Spirit to enable them to be powerful channels of God’s love and redeeming presence in the world. Charisms are to be used in charity or service to build up the Church (CCC, 2003). If you are interested in attending a “Called and Gifted” workshop, please email me at [email protected] Peggy

From the Prayer of the Archdiocese of the Military Almighty God and Father, look with love upon our men and women in uniform and protect them in their time of need. Give them health and stability and allow them to return to their loved ones whole and unshaken. Be with their families and sustain them in these uncertain times. Hear us as we present our prayers to You through Christ our Lord. Amen
We Pray to Stop Assisted Suicide O God, source of all life and hope, look kindly on our brothers and sisters facing the end of their lives, fill them with the hope of your mercy and give them peace and comfort. We pray for our California Legislators who are considering legalizing assisted suicide, inspire them to protect the lives of the elderly, the infirm and the disabled. Renew our commitment to building a community where every human life is welcomed and wanted, valued and defended -- from conception to natural death. We ask this through the intercession of Saint John Paul II. Amen.
Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
FROM CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING : We show our respect for the Creator by our stewardship of creation. Care for the earth is not just an Earth Day slogan, it is a requirement of our faith. We are called to protect people and the planet, living our faith in relationship with all God’s creation. This environmental challenge has fundamental moral and ethical dimensions that cannot be ignored.
