Since you are unable to receive Jesus in the Eucharist during Mass, we will bring Jesus to you. On Divine Mercy Sunday, April 19, Fr. Tim will be processing through streets in the portion of the parish that is south of Metairie Road, with Jesus in the monstrance, and blessing anyone who is outside their house on the front lawn. We did a procession on Palm Sunday through the streets in the parish north of Metairie Road. We planned to do another procession on Easter Sunday but postponed it due to rain and wind that were forecasted. As the procession passes your home, you are invited to kneel if you are able, and Fr. Tim will bless you with the monstrance. Please be sure to maintain
proper social distancing and do not invite people to your house for this. The route and estimated times for each portion of the procession will be posted at scschurch.com/procession by Friday, April 17. Check scschurch.com/procession on Divine Mercy Sunday for a link to real time tracking of the procession.
Monday Evening Rosary for Healing: April 20 The Monday 6 pm rosary for healing is taking place by means of a dial in conference call: dial in number, 978-990-5000; access code, 458110.

New Drive-Through Confession Schedule Drive-through confession now will be available on Wednesday, 5-6 pm, and Saturday, 3-4 pm. How does drive-through confession take place? Drive up in your car on the ramp next to the church or in front of the church if both Fr. Tim and Fr. Andrew are outside, roll down your window, confess your sins, and then drive off when you finish. Confession also is available by appointment at other times. Contact Fr. Tim or Fr. Andrew in the church office if you need another time for confession.
Volunteers Needed for Livestreaming Team Those who are comfortable with technology are asked to consider volunteering to serve on a media team that will run the Livestream equipment for the Sunday 9 am and Wednesday 9 am Masses. Please contact Fr. Tim, [email protected] or 835-9343, if interested.
New Parish-Wide Emails Fr. Tim and Fr. Andrew had been working toward being able to send parish-wide emails to help ensure that everyone in the SCS community receives monthly news updates. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, freed up time such that they have been able to make parish-wide emails a reality. At this time, a weekly email is being sent to all parishioners. Once the COVID-19 pandemic is over, an email with parish highlights will be sent once a month. Please call the church office if you are not currently subscribed and would like to begin receiving the emails.
In Sympathy Please pray for the repose of the souls of Alice A. Peyroux Bowes-Harris-Collier, Charles “Charlie” V. Cusimano, Adrienne Reuther Lala, Marguerite Oddo, Ouida Pizzolato, and Mercedes Randazza. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.

With the onset of the coronavirus, we have now set up ONLINE giving. Please consider supporting the Church during this time so that the parish can continue to provide ministry in Old Metairie, pay employees, and pay our bills. We realize that many people are in difficult financial situations and are grateful for any support you can offer. Online giving allows contributors to donate to the general collection and also to change one’s donation at any time. Donations can be scheduled as one-time or recurring gifts and can be made by checking account (ACH) or through Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Debit Card, or Check Card. The registration link is at scschurch.com/give. Please contact Fr. Andrew, [email protected], for assistance with online giving. Those making this commitment agree to attend the Mass for which they signed up to accept the cross after the homily (a booklet with suggested prayers is provided), and to return the vocation cross and booklet to the church office on the Wednesday before the second Sunday of the following month. A reminder email is sent the week before one’s selected date. For questions or to sign up, please contact Rich and Leslie Baudry, 442-7013, or email [email protected] or [email protected].
An Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Letter from Archbishop Aymond Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ: Easter 2020 will have its own unique chapter in history. Throughout Holy Week and Easter Sunday we usually gather in our churches to celebrate the Solemn Liturgies. This year is indeed different as we endure the coronavirus and are called to small group gatherings and to social distancing. Though we cannot gather in our churches, we are called to enter into prayer and walk with Jesus in his suffering, death and resurrection. These days call us to spend additional time in prayer. Choose a Gospel account and reflect on Jesus’ journey to Calvary and the tomb. In the midst of that prayer we also hear Jesus say, “If you wish to be my disciple, take up your cross and follow me.” Matt. 16:24 I have heard some ask, “Is this coronavirus God’s punishment on the world?” No, the God who loves us is not a God of revenge or condemnation, but a God who calls us to be converted to his love and mercy. God allows tragedies to call us to a greater dependence on him as the God of our lives and promises that out of this darkness he will bring hope and new life. Many in our community are suffering physically and emotionally. We ask God’s healing for the ill and eternal rest for those who have died from the virus. There is anxiety as we wonder about the future, our employment, finances, school, basic security and care for our families. In the midst of all these questions, Jesus says, “It is I, … do not be afraid … peace be with you”, as he said to the disciples after his resurrection. We must open our hearts and see him, standing outside the tomb offering to bring light into our darkness. Please remember health care professionals and all who serve us at this time. May our church bells ringing at 6:00 p.m. daily be a sign of our prayer for those who risk their lives for us. A special word of thanks to our clergy who have provided opportunities for us to grow spiritually. To more than 300 people who were to enter the Church at Easter, through Baptism or Profession of Faith, we eagerly look forward to welcoming you into our family of faith in the near future. May the peace of the Risen Christ bring light into any darkness you experience and hope in this time of uncertainty. Wishing you the blessings of the Risen Christ and a remembrance at Easter Mass, I am Faithfully in Christ, Most Reverend Gregory M. Aymond Archbishop of New Orleans
