Dear Resident

Since you elected me in 2009 to serve on Worcestershire County Council I have listened to your views and acted upon the issues that concern you.

Further investment is planned over the next four years to improve highway maintenance. Many local roads have been re-surfaced and this work is ongoing; a rolling programme

of pavement repairs is now into its third year.

Safety measures such as new street lighting, safer routes to school and traffic activated speed signs help to manage the ever increasing volume of traffic that use our local roads.

As a Governor at Franche and St Catherine’s Primary Schools I am proud of the excellent education our children receive from the

dedicated teaching and support staff.

In difficult economic times it is essential that we maintain low council tax whilst protecting the services residents really value such as health and social care.

There is still much to do! If re-elected I will continue to give you a strong voice on the County Council.

Puxton Marsh - the facts

Following recent activity around “The Bund” on Puxton Marsh, off Beaulieu Close your local Franche Conservative team wanted to clarify what is actually happening.

Cllr Anne Hingley says, “Planning Officers from WFDC have visited the site area and reported that the gates and fencing that have been erected do not require planning permission, and they do not block a public right of way.”

Anne added “There is no formal action that the Council can pursue. There is no adopted public right of way across the bund, and access to the cycle path is at the discretion of the landowner.”

On 20 May 2010 an outline planning application for an “Office Park” was refused by the WFDC Planning Committee. Your Franche Conservative team would continue to resist any development on Puxton Marsh.

POTHOLE WATCHPothole teams are working around the clock to repair damage caused by the severe weather. There is a team of inspectors who go out to technically access the damage but it helps if local

communities report them too. Please report potholes into the Worcestershire Hub on

Kidderminster 732928 or go online at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/reportit .

Since Cllr Anne Hingley’s meeting with the shop owners in November 2012 the re-surfacing of the car park has been completed.

The resurfacing has made a great improvement to the area around the shops visually and it is much safer to use for the local community who use the shops.

Anne says “I wish to thank Mr Andy Onions, owner of ‘Recommended Kitchens’ who coordinated the project on behalf of all involved.”

Anne added “This is just another example of local action to get a problem solved!”

£500,000 to Support

Local BusinessesLocal Conservatives have proposed investing a

further £500,000 from April this year. This

investment will come on top of £1,000,000 that

was invested last year. The money has been

used on a wide range of initiatives including:

Business Rate Relief on empty shops

Apprenticeships for local young people

Public Realm Improvements for

Kidderminster

Starter units for new businesses

Free Parking Schemes in the Town

Centres over Christmas

The money will help ensure Wyre Forest

businesses are best placed to trade in these

tough economic times.

Cllr Dan McCann says “Supporting our local

economy remains our number one priority. This ongoing investment ensures we can directly help

local businesses.”

See www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk for more details.

Multi-Million Pound Investment for Kidderminster Town Centre

As part of the local Conservatives support for the local economy there is currently a consultation on improving Kidderminster Town Centre.

The plans concentrate on key areas including the spaces

around the Town Hall and the Bull Ring, the future of Worcester Street and the route from the town centre to the railway stations on Comberton Hill.

Draft designs for these areas have been produced and the District Council would like residents’ views on the ideas being developed so far. The designs provide aesthetic improvements and suggest how

these places function day to day.

The consultation material, including the draft designs are available electronically at www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk All responses should be submitted by Friday 29th March.

Anne says, “We want to hear your views on the proposals, have a look and tell us what you think!”

Wyre Forest District Council will undertake a Community Governance Review considering a Town Council for Kidderminster.

Cllr Anne Hingley says, “At the February Council Meeting Wyre Forest District Councillors voted unanimously to action the process and timetable for the officers to conduct a Community Governance Review and report back to Council within a twelve month period.”

Anne added “This process will enable the local communities in Kidderminster to have their say on whether Kidderminster should have its own Town Council like Bewdley and Stourport.”
