EXALTED RULER MESSAGE
PASTA NIGHT and TRIVIA NIGHT on Monday is a huge success as is
TACO TUESDAY. We’ve had an excellent turnout of Elks on these
nights for dinner and fellowship. Appreciation to the Trivia Captains
and the teams who are preparing and serving Pasta Monday & Taco
Tuesday in our kitchen.
Our three day Open House Weekend brought many visitors and poten-
tial new members to the Lodge. A big “THANK YOU” goes out to the
members and officers who volunteered all weekend to assure the tre-
mendous success of the weekend, it was wonderful. Participation in
events such as this is a crowning effort.
Friday night burgers and hot dogs were being cooked on the grill until
midnight. “Just Dave” was in the lounge and stayed on to play music
for the after concert goers.
Jim & Mary provided music at the “Tiki Bar” all weekend. Thank you
Jim & Mary for all you do.
John Gebert and crew served the barbecue chicken dinner with famous
“Gebert” beans and as you may expect it was a “SELL OUT” with Elks
and their visitors who came and bought tickets the day of the dinner.

ELKS ANNUAL FLAG DAY CEREMONY –
Will be held at the Clyde E. Lassen Veterans Nursing Home on Satur-
day, June 15, 2013, beginning at 1:00 pm. The address is 4650 SR 16,
St. Augustine. This year the event will again include the VFW Honor
Guard and Boy Scout Troup 345 with a traditional Flag Burning Cere-
mony. Last year the residents as well as those visiting on that day were
overwhelmed with our Flag Day Ceremony. All Elks are encouraged to
attend. If you have a flag that is no longer suitable for display bring it to
the Lodge by Friday of that week or to the Lassen Home on the day of
the ceremony.
SPECIAL FATHER’S DAY SUNDAY BRUNCH –
Sunday, June 16th served at the Lodge from 9:00 – 11:00 am. This is a
favorite with Dads and a great way to start his day off with the family.
In keeping with an annual tradition the women will be running the kitch-
en to give the guys that Sunday off.
ELK OF THE MONTH –
I am very happy to announce that Grace Andrews is Elk of the Month
for June. You can find Grace working Bingo on Thursday evenings and
in the kitchen on Sunday mornings as part of the breakfast crews. Grace
also stepped up and agreed to be our Lodge Drug Awareness Chairman.
When an extra volunteer is needed she is there. Grace is a tireless vol-
unteer and it is my honor to name her June Elk of the Month.
Congratulations to Judy Reyes on her election as Florida Ladies of Elks
State President. Needless to say we are all very proud of Judy and her
accomplishment.
Sincere wishes to all and especially to all the Dads for a Happy Fathers
Day.
Elizabeth West, Exalted Ruler

Eland News June 2013
Happy June!
We have exciting news for the 39th Annual Luau – the entertainment will
be an authentic Polynesian Revue, complete with Hula Girls, ukuleles
and a fire dancer! Tickets are now available for $18 each – contact any
Eland Club officer or member. The date is Saturday July 27 at 6:00 pm.
Remember that last year’s event sold out, so be sure and get your tickets
early. Reserved tables are available for parties of 8 or more. There will
also be a Silent Auction, a Chinese Auction, and a 50/50 raffle. If you
have an item or service you would like to donate for the auction, please
contact me.
The Luau is one of our 2 major fundraisers for the year. The money
raised goes towards the Florida Elks Youth Camp, Therapy Services, and
several local charities. We need your support to make this our most suc-
cessful event ever!
On Saturday June 8 the Eland Club will be selling dessert at the Fish Fry.
I am requesting that each Eland member prepare a dessert and bring to
the lodge the morning of June 8th.

Dinner (and now trivia!). Finish off your spaghetti dinner with a yummy
piece of cake for just $1.00.
