Dear friends in Christ,
Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the World where nothing seems to move forward, and people just struggle for everything. However, it was amazing to see how strong their faith, their humility and hope is and for these poor and humble people one of their means of transportation is the donkey. Women and men travel slow, but long distances on this insignificant little smelly animal. The donkey has been the means of transportation of the poor throughout centuries. It has been the means of transportation in the life of Christ since His birth, and today as He enters Jerusalem He purposely uses what only a very poor person would have used, a little donkey. For the first time Jerusalem is being conquered by a humble leader, totally filled with compassion, love and determination for the ones He loves. His greatest mission is to show us another way of conquering each other, not with armies, and guns, and cruelty but by total humility, love and self-giving for one another. Palm Sunday is an invitation for all of us to accompany Christ into Jerusalem, to the Garden of Olives, the Last Supper where he teaches us another lesson of humility and service. He invites us to accompany Him on His passion, and all the way to His cross, but ultimately Our Lord invites us to the Resurrection. Holy Week will pull us into the passion, and death of Our Lord but at the end Christ wants to make us people of light, life and service to one another. Especially during a time when we are surrounded by so much sadness, and signs of death; Christ and his
followers must become signs of joy, and life.
Blessings for all, Fr. Mino

!!Recently I have received several calls from parishioners who need help to get to Mass. These are people who no longer can drive but have always attended Mass at St. Aloysius Parish and would like very much to continue to come to church. It would be wonderful if we could begin a service of transportation for the elderly in our midst. Please consider assisting in this area. We may be able to extend the transportation to help with appointments. Please call Sister Justine at 973-226-0209x37 or e-mail [email protected] Thank you for considering this ministry. Prayerfully,
Sister Justine
