Hey there GOLDEN Key Clubbers!
With the conclusion of elections, we are coming toward the end
of the Key Club term. I want to thank each of you for your service
and support this year, and I hope that whether this is your last year
of Key Club, your first, or somewhere in the middle, that you keep
performing service. Keep that Key Club spirit in your heart and
know that you can go so far in whatever you wish to accomplish.
Thank you for staying involved with Key Club throughout the year!
I enjoy seeing you all at meetings each week and YOU are my
motivation and inspiration.
Please know that your current officers are working with the elects to train them for their duties
and ensuring they will be ready to take over after District Convention.
Until then, keep in mind the goals we have set. We love to see ALL of you at our meetings, so
while some of you may have lost interest, let us know what we can do to make meetings better
for YOU. Also, please don’t forget to turn in your service hours. We are getting closer to our goal
of 2000 hours, but we need to keep marching on. Take advantage of the opportunities we have
this month and in the upcoming months and keep doing awesome things for our community!
You all are rock stars of service! If you have old hour sheets, please turn them in, as we want to
give you credit for the hours you have served the community!
Thank you for all that you do, and have a golden March Key Clubbers. I hope to see you all on
I have been volunteering at The Play Project many times over the past
two months, and it has absolutely been my favorite volunteering event
yet. Us Key Clubbers have had the opportunity to work with elementary
school children after school at Santa Susana Elementary every
Wednesday. We do various crafts with them in separate groups and then
present at the end. The times that I have gone I have helped my group
put together an obstacle course, a play with costumes, a tall tower, and
a mural! My group is so adorable and I love each and every one of them.
We have so much fun every week and they are definitely the highlight of
my day. Although The Play Project is ending, I will continue to visit the kids
as they are all so sweet. This volunteering event has been so spectacular
and I hope that Key Club participates in something like this again soon!

Valentines for Veterans
On Monday, February 10th, I and a few other Key Club members
made Valentine cards for the veterans after school. This event was
very successful as we made many cute cards that will make our
troops’ day a little brighter. We drew pictures and used stickers on
the cards to decorate and even wrote some poems in them! I am
positive that the veterans will be so appreciative that we thought
of them and made an effort to show our thanks to them.
Valentine’s Day is all about sharing your love with others, so we Key
Clubbers were able to do that through this creative activity!

Knoll’s Elementary School Father-
Daughter Dance
Setting up Knoll's Elementary School Father-Daughter
Dance was a neat experience. I used to go to Knoll's
when I was younger and the whole effort in putting the
dance together has evolved into something great!
While blowing up four hundred balloons can be tedious
work, especially tying two of them together, putting an
arch together was pretty nifty. My inner climber came
out too, and I got to hang off of ladders when hanging
decorations up. The PTA moms were really sweet, Simi
High's MPR looked great with the "Superstar"
decorations, we hung out with some of our Simi High
Key Clubbers, and I can't wait to do it all again for
White Oak's Father-Daughter Dance!

because we knew how great of a time the
fathers and daughters would have. Everyone
was so nice and I cannot wait to set up for
another elementary school event!

Pop Tabs Throughout the year we collect pop tabs for Ronald McDonald house. This is a place in close proximity to a hospital where families can stay when their child is in the hospital. They recycle the pop tabs and use the money to help families pay to stay at the house as well as pay the utilities and other expenses needed to keep the house running. So keep collecting! They can be from canned beverages and even the tabs from canned food! S.O.S. (Save Old
Spectacles) We are continually collecting glasses for SOS. Check with everyone you know to see if they have any old specs that they do not use anymore. Keep in mind, the end of the school year is ending and if every member brings in at least 3 pairs of glasses, our sponsoring Kiwanis of Santa Susana will throw us a pizza party! Feeding the Homeless Our club helps at 2 different locations for feeding the homeless and we could always use more volunteers! We help with set up, dinner service, dishes, and clean up after. oStillwaters Cafe at Shepard of the Valley Church: Thursdays from 5-7pm oThe Samaritan Center: 1st Thursday of the month
