Describe the European Colonization in the UAE.

Portuguese: In 18th century, the Portuguese sent their military fleet totake control of the countries on the Arabian Gulf. They remained active in the area for about 100 years. However, the people fought until they were able to send away the and regain their own castles and forts.

British: They tried to control sea routes to safeguard their trade with India. The British hit out against the coastal towns like RAK, which was attacked and burnt. They colonized the UAE from 1853 to 1971.
