Describe briefly about the Office / Department : • District Registrar exercises the power of Registrar under the following acts: - The Indian partnership Act, 1932 - The Karnataka Societies Registration Act,1960 - The Parsi Marriage & Divorce Act,1936 • District Registrar also acts as Deputy Commissioner of Stamps under Karnataka stamp act,1957. (The District Registrar is assisted by the Head Quarters Assistant (HQA) in the administration of the department at the district level HQA also works as Inspector of Registration & stamps under Registration Act, 1908 and Karnataka Stamp act,1957. HQA is delegated with the power of Deputy Commissioner under certain provisions of Karnataka Stamp Act ,1957) • District Registrar is appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Stamps for detection of undervaluation of property under section 45 A of Karnataka Stamp Act,1957 • There are 8 sub-Registry office in the district out of which 2 are Senior Sub registrar's offices ( SRO Karwar and SRO Sirsi) and 6 are Sub-Registrar offices (SRO Haliyal, SRO Kumta, SRO Honnavara, SRO Bhatkala, SRO Siddapura, SRO Mundgoda ). Every Sub-Registrar under the district shall perform the duties of his office under the superintendence & control of the Registrar. Apart from registration work, Sub- Registrar also functions as Marriage Officer under special Marriage Act,1954 and Registrar of Marriages under Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. Sub-Registrar also functions as member -secretary for market value sub-committee formed under central valuation committee under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Registration and Commissioner of Stamps . 3.
