Devotees will recite the appropriate shloka at every sannidhi (look at the list to the left). Naivedyam will be offered and Swami Desikan will receive Shatari from the sannidhis. Bhaadrapada Shravanam (Lunar calendar) or kanyaa Shravanam (Solar calendar) is very sacred for Sri Venkateswara. Every year in Tirumala, Sri Venkateswara enjoys a nine-day Annual Brahmotsavam concluding with sacred chakra-snanam on this date. AHT is celebrating this special day with Abhishekam for Sri Venkateswara swami in the morning. On the same day, 750 years ago, a great Acharya, Sri Nigamanta Mahadesikan took avataram as the incarnation of the Holy Bell of Sri Venkateswara. He has composed innumerable shlokas in Sanskrit, Tamil and Prakrith languages and has authored many books that still shine as a beacon to our sanathana dharma. Unflinching faith in prapatti-marga as revealed by Srimad Ramanuja, scholarly sophistication, mastery over scores of arts and sciences, immeasurable humility, unparalleled spirit of detachment and renunciation are few of Swami’s qualities. Devotees all over the world have been celebrating Swami’s Tirunakshatram for all of last year. AHT celebrates this great day with a special tribute to Swami Desikan.
