Sub : Implementation of Ban on One Time and thrown away plastics in our unit –Action Taken – reg.

Ref : Letter no. T1/TNPCB/DEE/PND/Plastics Ban /2018 dtd.22.11.2018

With reference to the above letter, we are welcoming the order issued by Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on the subject prolonged issues. As a keen attention payer of sustainable environment management, we have already taken various strict actions towards the motive of plastic ban in our unit. Moreover, we are describing herewith our action plan for the points raised in the letter cited in the reference as below.

1 Provide permanent display board made of metal (Not in PVC Flex) with pictorial representation of the banned “one time use and throwaway plastics ” items at the entrance of the industry for informing the visitors about the implementation of the ban on “use of onetime use and throwaway plastics”

The Display Board (Metal made) engraving with slogans on Plastic Ban is under preparation and will be installed in the entry & exit Gate within two days. Moreover, the security team have given alert to stop the entry of plastic materials in the Gate itself brought by Employees, staffs, visitors, transports, etc. with immediate effect.

2 Declare their industry as Plastic Free Zone and stickers shall be put up prominently.

Complied. We have already issued Circulars /inter office emails to all our HODs & Team Representatives with strict instructions of avoiding Plastics in the workplaces. The stickers were provided in all the prominent places for getting awareness & better implementation.

3 Conduct awareness programme among

the employees and other public within 10km radius, about the ban on use of “one time use and throwaway plastics” and the alternatives for the banned plastics, utilizing the services of proactive NGO’s,NGC and ECO clubs.

Regular Training Programs are being

imparted in our various divisions against the Plastic Usage in all forms. Regular monitoring has been started by our team of Supervisors to use the stoppage of plastics as a part of Implementation programme.

4 Conduct competitions among the children’s of their employees for creating awareness about ban on use of “one time use and throwaway plastics”

Will be complied. We will initiate to conduct educational programs for children on awareness of environment pollution due to plastic usages & disposals.

5 Take pledge to avoid “one time use and throwaway plastics”

As a part of training program, we have strictly committed to undertake for non usage of plastic products in and around the premises.

6 Provide notices to the suppliers, customers and visitors, detailing the banned plastic items and to make

practice to use alternate to banned plastic items.

At present, we have given oral information’s & email communications to all our vendors, contractors etc.,

declaring our area as Plastic Free Zone and to render their co-operation. Also, we have informed to deliver their supplies avoiding banned plastics made.

7 Ensure that the banned plastics items are not used in the canteen, offices, official meetings etc.,

Ensured that no plastic items are utilized in our Canteens (stoppage of plastics tea cups, food parcels through plastic carry bags etc), working office & meetings.

8 Form a “ One time use and throwaway plastics avoidance committee” comprising of top, middle and lower level officials with responsibility to create and spread awareness among the employees and community around 10 km radius

We have already concluded Environment /Health And Safety Committee headed by the Director of Company will take additional responsibility to implement the program effectively.
