This document describes the software version components for the SVRs and the relevant HW and SWcompatibility.
2. APPLICABILITY
The information contained in this document is applicable to Release SVR 1.3/ 2.5/ 4.4/ 3.3 /3.4/ 3.5/ 3.6 / 3.7/3.8 /3.9/3.10/ 7.5/7.7 of SRAL XD Family and to all the organizations involved.
3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ApplicationsSRA L XD line is primarily designed for urban networks but is also suitable in regional networks meeting allthe requirements of access and trunk applications.
Compelling Features
Based on network’s specific needs, the operator can select either higher spectrum efficiency or highersystem gain and hop lengths. All the parameter can be SW selected locally or remotely in order to adapt the HW platform to each singlelink characteristics in terms of available RF channel, payload, usable bandwidth and hop lenght.
SRA L XD flexibility and versatility greatly improve all the upgrading procedures and configuration change. Aterminal can be easily relocated without any HW modification simply re-shaping its peculiar parameters onthe new link requirement.
Another important strong advantage is represented by the extreme compactness of SRA L XD Indoor Unit.A single 44 mm high unit is necessary to implement any protected or unprotected terminal configurations.
System Architecture
The Split Configuration has been kept, even though both the IDU and the ODU have been redesigned in
order to reduce their mechanical dimensions. In order to save room for the indoor installation, the dimensions of the IDU have been dramatically reduced, moving the mo/modulation section to the ODU. As result the IDU able to provide protect configuration is only1U high.In spite of this change the dimensions of the ODU have been reduced as well by adopting the state of the arttechnology. The 1U High Plugin Version adopts a modular architecture. The basic configuration (1+0) consist of a controller, an access card and a base-band card; in order toarrange protected/add drop repeater configuration, an additional base-band card has to be added in thesame shelf. The IDU Plug-in, being independent from modulation format, will manage either High or Normaldensity ODUs.
Outdoor UnitsState of art RF technology has been the baseline for SRA L XD ODUs development completely matching all
the technical constraints introduced by the high modulation scheme adopted for the HD version: systemlinearity and synthesizer phase noise.
Three different outdoor units are part of SRA L XD suit:► Normal Density/Normal Density 2 ODUprovides only normal density channel arrangement (4 CPM Modulation Format) and able to assure acomplete compatibility through the entire SRA L product line► High Density/High Performance (HD/HP) ODU (not supported by IDU TwoE1):supports both normal and high density modulation schemes(4 QAM, 16 TCM Modulation Format) assuring a SW selectable adaptation of SRA L XD terminals to theavailable bandwidth.► High Density/High Performance enhanced (HDe) ODU (not supported by IDU TwoE1):
Able to carry 32xE1 can provide both ND( 4/8/16 x E1 in 7/ 14 / 28 MHz) and HD (8/16/32xE1 in 7/14/28Mhz) is fully compatible with the HD/HP version. Moreover, ODU HDe is already open to future evolutions of IDU platform, being able to transport highercapacities in 32TCM (Feature not available with present IDU families).
The following table lists for convenience the compatibility of SRAL XD IDUs with different ODU types. Also
controllers are listed for IDU plug-in.Please note this table refer to latest SVR. In order to define which is the first SVR supporting certain ODUtype please refer to Chapter 7, Product Composition.

3. FEATURE NO LONGER SUPPORTED
In SVR 3.9 (and in SVR 3.10 as well) SSH functionalities have been removed.
Therefore, the following exporting restrictions due to encryption:

are not valid anymore.
4. Notes on Equipment Behaviour and Working Modes
In order to allow a smooth Maintenance and NMS operation, please consider the following notes.
• In SVR 3.7, when IDU 32xE1 is used, the hot replacement of IDU controller should be handledwith care: if the spare unit is equipped with svr 3.7.1 no problems are envisaged, but in case ofspare controller with svr 3.6.0 (or previous) loaded on the active bank a loss of traffic in bothdirections might occur. Workaround to avoid loss of traffic is available and is described intechnical assistance document IMC7471AEDG. The malfunction can be observed only withIDU 32xE1: any other hot replacements of controller subunit in another IDU type (i.e. hotinsertion of controller with svr 3.4.1/3.5.3/3.6.0/3.7.1 in IDU Data Access) do not cause anyunexpected side effect nor alarms nor loss of traffic. Anyway, the issue is resolved in swembedded starting from svr 3.8.2, so it will not happen in next software version releases whichwill support other IDU types.
• SVR 3.10.4: on IDU PI 16xE1 ETH QoS features (Fixed Priority and WFQ) have been verifiedas underperforming and therefore removed (starting from SVR 3.10.4). This issue was not
42/43 Nokia Siemens Networks Copyright 2007 Nokia Siemens Networks. All rights reserved.
present on IDU PI 32 ETH. The problem has been fixed and the functionality restored in SVR3.10 5 (and following releases).
• With SVR 3.10.3 and 3.10.4, using 16xE1 ETH IDU (8xE1+4xFE Access Card) there is thepossibility of switch lock when the on-air Trunk capacity dedicated to Ethernet is overloaded. This anomalous behaviour will be fixed in a Software Maintenance Update 3.10.x . Thisanomaly is not present on IDU 32xE1 ETH (16xE1+3xFE+1xGE Access Card). Thisanomalous behavior has been fixed with SVR 3.10.5 (and following releases).
.
• In case of hardware faults of BaseBand 16xE1, it’s recommended to temporary disableDynamic Modulation on both terminals of the radio hop before starting maintenanceprocedures. This approach is suggested in order to speed up traffic recovery and/or alarmsrestore.
• It is advisable to temporarily disable Dynamic Modulation when replacing a faulty Outdoor Unitor at ODU first installation as well. In case of ODU parameters loss after ODU replacement,
Memory key has to be substituted with a new one if Dynamic Modulation was enabled.
• When a Memory key is extracted from a IDU plug-in 16xE1 with Dynamic Modulation enabled, that Memory key can not be reused in any other SRAL XD IDU plug-in where DynamicModulation is not supported (i.e. IDU 32xE1) or not enabled. Otherwise manual change of bitrate / modulation format via LCT can not be performed.
• SVR 3.10.4 (3.10 SU1) is a software version providing bug fixing and enhancements as:
- Solution of the “Sleeping ODU” issue for ODU ND 13 GHz and 15 GHz;- Bug fixing related to Dynamic Modulation and ATPC booster features for ODUHDe 13 GHz and 15 GHz.
• SVR 3.10.5 (3.10 SU2) is a software version providing bug fixing, mainly the restoration ofQoS on IDU PI 16xE1 ETH.
• SVR 3.8.12 (3.8 SU1) is a software version providing

- removed malfunction regarding incongruent RSPI recorded values (ODU HD/HP)
• SVR 3.10.6 (3.10 SU3) is a software version providing
- improvement of maximum latency for Ethernet payload managed by 8xE1+EthernetAccess (latency values less than 8 msec for on air capacity assigned to Ethernet
traffic more than 4xE1)- removed malfunction regarding incongruent RSPI recorded values (ODU HD/HP)
- New feature: automatic Ethernet port shutdown in case of Radio link Failure
