Preparing the ground

We had a lot of digging and weeding to do last May.

We put all the weeds in the compost heap.

Growing wellWhen Martina came to visit from Germany last September the sprouts were well grown.

We had plenty of rain to help them grow.

Harvesting

Ms Blake helped us pick ourfirst sprouts in November.

After a good frost sprouts taste even better. Here we picked and wrote about growing the perfect Brussels sprouts in our writing lessons!

Cooking

Here are the girls handing over our harvest.

Our school cooks; Mrs Jamieson and Mrs Ingram are serving up our delicious vegetables to hungry pupils for school dinner. Sprouts are best cooked for only a short time.

Happy Christmas!

YUMMY !

Here we are enjoying our sprouts for Christmas dinner at school. By growing and eating our own vegetables we are helping to reduce our school’s carbon footprint. We are also seriously enjoying our learning!
