–You will be required at all times to wear closed-toe shoes in the Ag Building, greenhouse or land lab…no sandals!

• Long Hair & Bulky Cloths–These can cause fire and chemical hazards. Long hair should be tied back and bulky clothing tucked in.

–Jewelry can get in the way and get caught on things. All jewelry should be tucked away under clothing or removed.

–Use for chemicals or foreign objects in eyes. Flood eyes with water. Eye lids must be forcibly held open.

–The best prevention of fire is to pay attention and not be careless! If a fire happens, DO NOT PANIC!

• Fire Blanket– Used for assisting with clothing fires. Never wrap a person in the blanket standing up…this creates a chimney effect!

• Keep your hands off of your face, body and out of your mouths while working in the lab or with animals. Remember to practice good hygiene.

• When lifting heavy items, begin in a squatting position and lift with your legs and not your back. Do not lift oversized items without assistance.

• Do not handle animals belonging to other people. If your animal is new, skittish, sick, eating or asleep, use caution.

• Follow the correct procedure for using every tool

• Keep cutting tools sharp and in good condition

• Don’t work with oily or greasy hand

mushroomed heads should be ground smooth

• If anything breaks or malfunctions, report it to your instructor at once

• Never place tools & materials where they hang on the edge of the table
