Spring Rebuilding at Kala Rongo
Three Ways to Help
NYEMA PROJECTS, INC.Nangchen Yushu Educational and Medical Association
247 Sheafe RoadWappingers Falls, New York 12590, USA
Kala Rongo Monastery, founded by Norlha Rinpoche in 1990, provides unique oppor-
tunities to Buddhist nuns in Tibet. Not only is it rare for women to have their own monastery, but in addition Kala Rongo is widely celebrated as the site of the first monastic college for women in Tibet’s history. More than 300 nuns, of whom 200 have completed the three-year retreat, are currently engaged in religious practice and study at Kala Rongo.
Sponsor Guru Rinpoche StatuesTwo Guru Rinpoche statues have been commissioned for Kala Rongo: a 15-foot statue for the reconstructed shrine hall, and a 10-foot statue to be placed in the Zang Dok Pal Ri Palace (see box).
The copper statues are being created in Swayambhunath, Nepal, at the same monastery whose excellent workmanship produced Kagyu Thubten Chöling’s 10-foot Guru Rinpoche statue pictured above. The statues will be partly gilded and will have fully painted faces. The cost will be USD $60,000 for the 15-foot statue and USD $40,000 for the 10-foot statue.
Your kind donations will make it possible for these statues to grace the shrine rooms of the Zang Dok Pal Ri Palace and the new shrine hall.
Visit www.nyema.org for more information and to view site plans of the new shrine hall.
On behalf of Kala Rongo, we thank you for your support. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. NYEMA Projects, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charity. NYEMA (Hong Kong) Association Limited is a Hong Kong SAR government registered charity.
Build the Zang Dok Pal RiThe Glorious Copper Colored Mountain Pure Land of Guru Rinpoche
← Dharmakaya Level: Amitabha, Kuntuzangpo and the Five Buddha families.
← Sambhogakaya Level: Dorje Sempa surrounded by Chenrezi and the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities.
← Nirmanakaya Level: In a lotus lake is Guru Rinpoche with the 12 Special Treasure Texts revealed by Chögyur Lingpa (Namtrul Chönyi), encircled by the hundred terma finders.
A three-tiered structure 45 feet tall, the Zang Dok Pal Ri is a sacred palace where Guru Rinpoche resides even today. Its three levels are symbolic of the three bodies of the Buddha. Visitors will be able to walk up each tier. A fenced garden will surround the palace.
Projected cost of construction: USD $87,500, or RMB 700,000.

Reconstruct the Main Kala Rongo Shrine HallOn October 25, 2004, the nuns of Norlha Rinpoche’s monastery at Kala Rongo, who had spent many years building and furnishing the monastery with their own hands, were devastated to watch their shrine hall burn to the ground. All the statues, paintings, decorations and ritual implements were lost. While maintaining their many practice commitments, the nuns have completed the task of clearing away the ruins and preparing the ground, and rebuilding is scheduled to begin this spring. The projected cost to rebuild is USD $225,000, or RMB 1,800,000.
If you include the names of those with whom you would like to share the merit of your donation, the nuns of Kala Rongo will dedicate prayers to them.
