Bonded Ceramic Restorations: Planning, Preps and Provisionals

Date: Oct. 3, 2014Credit Hours: 6 Dentists: $300Hygienists/Staff: $200Presented By: James Kessler, D.D.S.Place: OU College of Dentistry, Room 104Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch provided)Overview: Bonded indirect restorations open the door to more conservative and esthetic options for our patients. Unfortunately, there is a great deal of confusion and commercially biased misinformation regarding these restorations. In this presentation, we will discuss the practical indications for bonded restorations. We will examine the preparation design principles critical for anterior and posterior bonded ceramic restorations. We will also review veneer provisionalization techniques and bonding procedures, as well as the various resin cement materials available.

Dental bonding agents and resin luting cements are constantly evolving areas of restorative dentistry, and new products have been included in the glass ionomers catego-ry. Faced with a large range of restorative dental materials, dentists are expected to separate advertising from reality. Dr. Khajotia will differentiate among the various categories of each biomaterial from the perspective of critical materials science considerations and clinical use, without personal bias or commercial interests.
