SAGINAWAl-Fe Heat Treating offers Precision Air Quenching (PAQ) at its Saginaw and Defiance facilities. PAQ works with both basket and basketless processing, and provides uniform quenching across complex components with various cross-section thicknesses. In the arena of thin walled castings, stampings, forgings, and/or fabrications, PAQ provides the perfect solution to limit brittleness and distortions often found in conventional quenching methods. In addition, the slower cooling rate of PAQ improves fatigue life while balancing the chosen material’s mechanical properties. This allows automotive manufacturers greater options in structural design, which increases overall vehicular efficiency.

Alfe Heat Treating wants the best for our customers. In order to bring them the highest quality products and responsive service in the most cost-effective way possible, we offer three options to partner with our customers:

1st, we will run any customer’s parts, no matter the quantity, including for R&D. We have facilities that handle small, medium and large volumes.

2nd, for high-volume, long-term customers, we can minimize transportation costs and build a plant right next door to your facility.

3rd, we will install a shop inside your building for a dedicated, captive, heat-treating facility and manage and maintain it independently or with your internal team.

Our Defiance, Ohio aluminum plant, shown here, underwent a $20 million capital improve-ment in 2010 and is a fully automated, lights-out, dedicated GM facility. A precision air-quench operation, it also reduces treating costs and tooling with a basketless process.

DEFIANCE

WABASHThe Wabash, Indiana facility was the second Al-Fe Heat Treating facility, built in 1986. This division specializes in heat treating aluminum components, utilizing both continuous and drop bottom batch furnaces. Our Wabash facility is set up for high-volume runs, and our trucking fleet is ready to help keep delivery efficient and flexible.

The Wadsworth, Ohio facility was built in 1990 and was expanded in 1992. All aerospace and military products are heat treated at this division. The primary markets we serve include automotive, aerospace, electrical, military and industrial products.

HyperQuench ProcessSmall work cube furnace allows for cost effective processing, perfect for R&D projects and prototype work. The hyperquench delivers improved mechanical properties based on a 5-second quench delay. No products of combustion, making the furnace a good fit for aerospace (NADCAP), military/defense, and other specification work.

Batch Solution/Batch Age ProcessingAl-Fe Heat Treating prides itself on our aluminum heat treating expertise. We are committed to quick turnaround times with the majority of heat treating of aluminum alloys orders being processed within 48 hours. Aerospace heat treat customers include Boeing, Eaton, Cessna, Lockheed, Bell Helicopter, GE, Goodrich, Gulfstream, MD Helicopter, Parker Hannifin, Moog, Honeywell, United Technologies Sikorsky Aircraft, as well as many others.

Glycol QuenchingThe Wadsworth, OH location provides both low- and high-volume aluminum heat treating with glycol quenching for automotive and commercial applications. Glycol quenching, coupled with water and air quenching methods, is just one more tool Al-Fe Heat Treating offers to help its customers manufacture parts with consistent quality.
