On-line Product Information System

The SAACKE On-line Product Information System (SOPIS) is being phased in from 2014 as existing service contracts are renewed or new contracts signed. This will be an additional (free-of-charge) benefit for the duration that the service contract remains in place.

Labels having a unique QR code for each site and boiler-house are provided, to be applied to the boiler/combustion equip-ment and for use by portable devices. Data may be accessed by computer using the site specific URL link.

The Health & Safety Executive expect Operation and Maintenance Manuals, and as-installed drawings to be readily available for anyone on site who is responsible for the operation, routine maintenance and fault finding of the plant. ‘SOPIS’ meets this requirement by providing instant access to this documentation when original hard copies may be damaged, lost or become outdated.This new system will offer you many benefits including:

existing propulsion system, to make it seaworthy for the two-month passage from the Chinese shipyard to Rio Grande, near the oil-producing region. For this purpose, the two existing 75 t/h boilers were stripped and re-tubed. To generate the process steam required for FPSO operation at the usage site, the boilers were equipped with three Dual Fuel DDZG burners each, including new fittings, steam system instruments and controls (fail safe PLC system). The SAACKE components are therefore able to generate both superheated steam for the turbine propulsion and the process steam needed for processing and stabilizing the crude oil on board the ship.

SummaryThanks to state-of-the-art combustion equipment, the FPSO unit P-63 is now ready for 15 to 20 years of service at sea – without dry-docking. The conversion including international project coordination was performed by SAACKE in a close collaboration with the customer. After a transitional phase, the FPSO was handed over to Petrobras, the operator.

Customer from Europe – refit in Asia –usage in South AmericaBesides the operative modernization, global project management from a single source was crucial. How should the plant modules be designed? How should the material flows be arranged? These are questions that are particularly important given the lack of space on a ship. The international coordination, the engineering in Bremen, the production in China and Croatia, the assembly in the Chinese shipyard, and the commission-ing in the Brazilian region of Rio Grande – the scope of the P-63 project required the involvement of the entire SAACKE group.

We have been using SAACKE since our burners and controls were installed in 1994 under the original contract number VG: 6300. Since then we have built up a strong working relationship with the service Engineers and personnel who attend site to service our equipment and attend to breakdowns.

With an acute hospital such as St Helier, speedy response to breakdown emergencies is always a prime concern. In the past we have had to call on SAACKE following instances of power failure caused by other faults. The nature of the burner controls ensures that they fail safe in the event of a loss of power, in some circumstances it is not an easy task to reset our critical plant. One such event occurred a few months ago where the boilers would not reset following a loss of power and subsequent loss of water supply as a result. This caused the steam pressure to drop in the hospital thus losing the heating and hot water supply to several acute areas.

SAACKE were able to attend site at short notice and assist our staff in regaining the safe operation of the boilers and supply of steam to the hospital. Following this event, we utilized SAACKE to give a training course to our on call staff to able them to respond more effectively to rare instances such as this.

We are very happy with the overall service we receive from SAACKE as a company and would recommend their services to anyone that has not used them before.

Sporting a ChallengeCongratulations to Rob Chapman that took part in RIDE 24’s London to Land’s End!! 310 miles in 24hrs - stretching through the South of Britain – the route is broken down into 7 stages of approximately 40 / 45 miles each. Rob finished the ride in 24 hours and 23 minutes and raised over £1100 for Macmillan Cancer.

To celebrate his 60th birthday Eddie Harris, our Sales Office Manager, was given a birthday surprise of a sky dive with Skydive UK Ltd, in Devon. On the 4th October Eddie braved the winds and plummeted towards the ground at speeds of over 120mph an experience to remember for the rest of your life. Eddie commented “You can see why people get hooked on this, it was brilliant”.
