By: ESPNRacing Lincoln Electric is the exclusive welder of Penske Racing It's not often a manufacturer inherits a championship team, but such is the case for Ford officials this season. The big question is this: Can everyone involved share the wealth? Defending Cup champ Brad Keselowski, Ford's new golden boy, hopes so. He also hopes to do something that hasn't been done in 54 years. You have to go back to 1958 to find the last time a driver won consecutive titles with two different auto manufacturers. Lee Petty won the 1958 title in an Oldsmobile and the 1959 crown in a Plymouth. But Petty raced 17 events in the 1959 season in an Oldsmobile and ended the season in a Plymouth, which he drove in 27 races. Buck Baker also won his two championships with different manufacturers -- a Chevrolet in 1957 and a Chrysler (officially) one year earlier. Baker also drove a Ford in four races and a Dodge in 14 others during the 1956 season. Cale Yarborough was the last NASCAR driver to win back-to-back Cup titles in different makes of cars. He won his second of three consecutive titles in a Chevrolet but won the third championship driving an Oldsmobile in 1978. However, both cars fell under the General Motors banner. So no driver in NASCAR history has won back-to-back Cup titles driving the full championship season for only one auto manufacturer and the next season for another. Keselowski could become the first if he takes his No. 2 Ford to the 2013 title after winning his first championship last year in a Dodge. But it will take cooperation and collaboration with Ford's other teams to get it done. Keselowski admits Penske Racing's move from Dodge to Ford is a big transition. It requires sharing technical information, at some level, with Roush Fenway Racing and Petty Motorsports, the two other Ford organizations. "Some of that stuff is a work in progress," Keselowski said last week during the test at Daytona. "I think, so far, we all agree to the Ford approach of 'One Ford,' where we are going to share what we can where it's practical to do so. "Those things are being defined daily as far as what is OK to share and what is not. I don't have great answers for you there. In order for that to work out, there has to be a level of cooperation. I think we all see that. It's just a matter of defining what that level is." Penske was the only team for Dodge. Roger Penske has ended his engine-building program to lease Roush-Yates engines this season. Carl Edwards, coming off a disappointing, winless 2012 season in which he finished 15th in the standings in the No. 99 Ford for Jack Roush, hopes adding Penske's two-car operation (Keselowski and Joey Logano) to the Ford family will help all the Ford drivers. "I'm looking forward to it and hope we get to share a lot of information," Edwards said. "It would help us a lot. The way Brad ran at the end of last year was spectacular. "At the end of the day, I hope we have something to give them so they will reciprocate. The more teams you have working together, the more information you have and more ideas you have. It makes things better." No one knows for certain how it will work out, but Keselowski likes what he sees in Ford officials, from top executives to design engineers to the people sweeping the floors. "The level of engagement is remarkable," Keselowski said. "It shows the commitment Ford has. I've never experienced that before. It makes me feel very confident that any bit of adversity or any hurdle we have to climb, we can do it, because we have a dedication of resources and top-notch people." Ford officials inherited the best of the best from 2012. Ford's last Cup title was nine years ago, when Kurt Busch won the inaugural Chase for Roush. That dry spell could end this year if everyone shares the wealth.

FIFTH ROLEX 24 AT DAYTONA WIN FOR CHIP GANASSI WITH FELIX SABATES By: chipganassiracing.com

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) returned to victory lane the last weekend in January in the Rolex 24 At Daytona as the No. 01 TELMEX/Target Dinan-Prepared BMW with drivers Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas, Juan Pablo Montoya and Charlie Kimball triumphed and picked up another prestigious Rolex watch. The win was the fifth for CGRFS in just 10 appearances at the twice-around-the-clock endurance race, and the fifth for Pruett who ties Hurley Haywood’s record for most overall wins in the event.

The race came down to the final hour as four cars battled fuel mileage and on-track positions. Montoya drove the final stint, coming back after falling to fourth following a late-race restart. He regained his position as the leader, and then prevailed in a battle of splash-and-go fuel stops in the closing minutes to beat Max Angelelli to the checkered flag by 21.922 seconds. The victory marked the third win for Montoya and Rojas in the Rolex 24, and the first win for Kimball in his first GRAND-AM start. The No. 02 Target/TELMEX Dinan-Prepared BMW with drivers Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon, Jamie McMurray and Joey Hand were a fixture among the lead pack and were running in second 15 hours into the marathon race before they encountered problems. McMurray brushed the wall while exiting pit road following a green flag pit stop, costing the No.02 seven laps in the garage for repairs. The No .02 returned to the track and gained five laps back when the car lost drive with less than three hours remaining, ending their chance for redemption. The Target/TELMEX team would finish out the race in 37th position overall.

NEW YORK, NY ― Robson Palermo rode Whitewater Trouble (Austin Riley/Teague Bucking Bulls) for 90 points to win the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and capture the event title at the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series Monster Energy Invitational at Madison Square Garden. More than 14,000 fans watched on Sunday to bring the three-day attendance total to 42,994, ensuring that the "Toughest 8 Seconds In Sports" will return to the "World's Most Famous Arena" again in 2014.

J.B. Mauney led heading into the championship round before bucking off Rock & Roll (K-C Bucking Bulls/Spark-lin Acres). Had he ridden the bull, he would have won the event title and received an additional $12,000 as Rock & Roll was the "Monster Money Bull." Palermo finished with 261.50 points, while Mauney and Aaron Roy tied for second place with 260.50 points. Two-time defending World Champion Silvano Alves finished fourth with 257.50 points, and 2009 World Champion Kody Lostroh finished fifth with 246.75 points. Roy finished second in the championship round with 88.25 points, and Alves was third with 87.75 points. Luke Snyder won Round 3 with 87.75 points on 10 Penny (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls). Palermo is the leader in the BFTS season standings with 816.50 points, while Mauney and Roy are in second place with 795.50 points. Alves is in fourth place with 687.50 points and Lostroh is in fifth place with 576.75 points.

ROBBY GORDON FINISHES STRONG IN FINAL STAGE AT DAKAR RALLY BY: speedracing.com

Santiago, Chile (January 19, 2013) – On the final day of the 2013 Dakar Rally, Robby Gordon and Kellon Walch set the pace to start Stage 14. However, the SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires / MAPEI HUMMER finished the 114KM stage in 6th place; the American duos first finish outside the top 5 since Stage 4.

The Rally consisted of ups and downs for Gordon as a driver and Walch as a navigator. No matter the outcome of the stage, the two continued to battle capturing 8 podiums and 2 stage wins in the world's toughest off-road race. After the roll over on Day 4, Gordon knew that continuing with the Rally would help overall in developing the HUMMER to make it stronger to come back in 2014 to capture the ultimate goal in an overall win.

"I've made mistakes this year, and I'm extremely proud of my team. We have had zero mechanical issues and zero flats thanks to a great partner in Toyo Tires. Also, I want to say thanks for all the support from MAPEI, 4 Wheel Parts, Traxxas and SPEED Energy. My team never got down when they knew we were out of it. They kept their heads together and worked hard to achieve two stages wins. We will be back next year!"

Gordon completes the 2013 Dakar Rally 14th overall, finishing with his signature donuts for hundreds of fans waiting to greet him. The team is ready for some needed rest after several days of camping in the desert. However, next up for Gordon of his many off-road adventures state-side will be the Best in the Desert Parker 425 on January 31st - February 3, where he will return in his no.77 SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires Trophy Truck, followed by the King of the Hammers event on February 6 - 9th.
