Carbohydrates, electrolytes and fluids are key ingredients in any sports drinks. Why? Carbs are needed to provide energy to the body and
delay the onset of fatigue. They provide the effective delivery of the salts or electrolytes needed to be replaced. Most sports drinks contain carbohydrates in the form of simple sugars which can cause adverse effects such as nausea, vomiting, or other stomach upsets.
What is different about CeraSport? Based on a patented rice-based carbohydrate blend, CeraSport breaks down systematically, providing both quick and sustained hydration.
Which electrolytes are lost in sweat? Sodium, potassium, chloride and bicarbonate or “base” are lost in sweat. CeraSport/CeraSportEX1 has all these electrolytes including a base of citrate to neutralize acidosis and replace bicarb losses in sweat. Electrolytes help maintain body-fluid balance, aid in muscle contraction, cardiac performance and nerve impulse transmission.
Stay Hydrated and Energized with CeraSport!Hydration TipsWater is good, but not sufficient — water lacks the electrolytes the body needs to have replaced following exercise. A goal of replacing 125 to 150% of the fluid lost is recommended (note drink more than what was lost!).
E Maintain proper hydration, fluid and mineral balance throughout your yearly training cycle. Choose a sports drink, such as, CeraSport or CeraSport EX1 with a very low osmolarity of <150 mOsm. Many sports drinks and all juices have higher osmolarity, which means less optimal absorption.
E Drink 4 to 8 oz of fluid every 15 to 20 minutes when exercising for more than one hour, in order, to stay hydrated during a race or prolonged physical activity.
E Drink enough to feel strong, and have light-colored urine flow every 2 to 3 hours (frequently).
E Drink before you feel thirsty! Once you are thirsty, you may already be mildly dehydrated.
E Slowly drinking or sipping small amounts of CeraSport over time is more beneficial for rehydration, than gulping down large amounts of fluid after activity.

What about those drinks with electrolytes and no carbohydrates? For example, Crystal Light®, Propel® or Vitamin Water®.
In summary, electrolytes need the presence of a carbohydrate in order to be absorbed into the bloodstream. Therefore, without the combination of carbohydrate and electrolytes, absorption does not occur effectively.
