GRADE CHECKS AND ATHLETIC EXPECTATIONS
Grade checks are done before the first practice, and again before the first game. A third grade
check will be done 2 weeks later.
Athletes will be expected to be passing all classes academically and in citizenship.
Athletes failing one class will be put on probation and allowed to practice if their grade point
is 2.0 or better. Athletes will have until the next grade check to show improvements and reach
minimum requirements. If minimum requirements are not reached, the athlete is released from
the team.
Athletes failing two or more classes will be put on probation and will not be allowed to
practice until minimum requirements are reached by the next grade check. If minimum
requirements are not met, the athlete is released from the team.
Behavior is checked every week. If an athlete is on Honor level 3, he or she will be placed on
probation. The athlete can practice but not participate in games. If an athlete is on Honor level
4, he or she will not be allowed to practice or play games until he or she goes back to honor
level 2. This can take up to 2 weeks. If a student is suspended out of school, or assigned
in-school suspension, he or she may be removed from the team. For information about
discipline and the Honor Level System, please refer to your athletes student planner.
Athletes are expected to follow directions and be productive. Sportsmanship will be
demonstrated at all times by athletes, coaches, and parents. Athletes are expected to be at
ALL practices on time. If an athlete has 2 unexcused absences, he or she will be released
from the team.
An important note regarding away games– Athletes are to ride with their team on the bus to
and from their destination. If a parent or legal guardian wants to take an athlete home after the
game, they MUST sign their athlete out with the coach in order to leave with them. Any parent
taking home someone else’s child from a game can only do so if the coach has a signed note
from that athletes parent prior to the game beginning. A child not sign out properly, may lose
