Itineraries trace back the oldest racing car competitions like the Hill Climb of Monte Pellegrino (Palermo) which was the first uphill race dating back to 1908, or Targa Florio, the oldest one, created by Vincenzo Florio in 1905, the circuit of Syracuse, the opening Grand Prix of Europe during the 50s and 60s and the circuit, which starts from the Cyclops Coast and ends to the most panoramic point of Mt. Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe.


1st Accommodation: 2 Nights at a Luxury 5-Star Hotel in Palermo. Half Board Treatment.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Airport – Palermo

Direct transfer by private car/minibus from the airport Falcone e Borsellino (Palermo Airport*) to Palermo. Professional English speaking driver provided.

Reach Palermo, the capital of Sicily, founded by Phoenicians in the 8th century BC and located on the northern coast of the island.Check-in into your hotel in Palermo, a 5L-star seaside hotel with spa. It is a sumptuous villa built in the 19th century and located on the coast in a quite area of Palermo. A great solution for the most discerning traveller who needs a top end luxury accommodation.

Have a dinner at the hotel restaurant and spend your night at leisure**.

Overnight: 5L-star hotel in Palermo.

*Transfer from Trapani or Catania airports on request.**According to the arrival time it is possible to enjoy a guided walking tour through the magnificent historic centre of Palermo full of heritage, art and culture and enjoy a lunch based on the traditional Sicilian cuisine at a typical restaurant. Day 2 Palermo - Mount Pellegrino - Mondello

After breakfast you will meet our assistant at the hall of your hotel. He will deliver your sport car!

Have your first driving experience in Sicily along the Monte Pellegrino “Cronoscalata” itinerary. Enjoy a breath-taking view of Palermo while driving in the first hill climb in the world (1908).

During the day reach the famous shrine of Santa Rosalia, at the top of Mount Pellegrino (Goethe described it as “the best promontory of the world”) and the neighboring small borough of Mondello, one of most popular tourist place in Italy, with a gorgeous sand beach and many great sea-restaurant. *

Return to your hotel in the afternoon and have a dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Spend your night at leisure.

2nd Accommodation: 2 Nights at a 5-Star relais (former Benedictine Abbey) near Castelbuono. HB Treatment.

Day 3 Madonie Nature Reserve (Targa Florio Itinerary)

After breakfast move to the East and reach Castelbuono in the Natural Park of Madonie. Check-in into your hotel, a 5-star relais (former Benedictine Abbey) surrounded by vineyards. Enjoy a great driving experience along the Targa Florio Itinerary, the oldest automobile race in the world (1905).Pass through some authentic Sicilian small town such as Caltavuturo, Campofelice di Roccella and Cerda.

Get out from the classic tourist patterns and breathe the atmosphere of a medieval town such as Caccamo*.

Return to your hotel: have a dinner at the hotel restaurant and spend your night at leisure.

Overnight: 5-star relais near Castelbuono (Natural Park of Madonie).


*Our tip: with a professional guide, visit the medieval castle of Caccamo, the largest fortress in the island built by Normans about 1000 years ago and never conquered. Imagine just that you are thrown in the Middle Ages and discover the intrigues of the castle. Enjoy a lunch at a medieval-style restaurant beside the castle (menu based on traditional Sicilian cuisine). Guided visit of the castle and lunch on request.

Day 4 Madonie Nature Reserve (Targa Florio Itinerary)

After breakfast explore the area between Castelbuono, Pollina and Cefalù.

Experience driving within unique landscapes of Madonie, through epic roads among the hills. Enjoy some panoramic points and let you surprised by the view of the Mediterranean Sea. Pass through Pollina, a small village perched on an isolated hill on the slopes of the Madonie mountains chain. Walk through its medieval winding streets paved with stone. The houses built right on the cliffs and the lookout will surprise you, offering a lovely view of the large forest below.

Reach Cefalù, a stunning sea-town in the northern coast. Enjoy its medieval architecture: narrow streets paved with cobblestones lead to various Norman palaces and churches from the 12nd century*.

Return to your hotel. Have a dinner at the hotel restaurant and spend your night at leisure.

Overnight: 5-star relais near Castelbuono (Natural Park of Madonie).


*Our tip: have a lunch at a sea-restaurant in Cefalù. Enjoy the “granita”, a Sicilian ice dessert, while admiring the Norman Cathedral. Spend your time shopping in Corso Ruggero (an amazing fashion street in Cefalù) or enjoying the sandy beach.


3rd Accommodation: 3 Nights at a Luxury 5-Star hotel in Taormina. Half Board Treatment.

Day 5 Taormina

After breakfast move to the East and reach Taormina, the jewel of Sicily. Check-in into your hotel, a Luxury 5-star hotel in the heart of Taormina right in front of thr Greek Theatre. The hotel is surrounded by a beautiful park with a swimming pool and a panoramic terrace from where you may admire the Sicilian coastline.Spend the day visiting Taormina*: because of the strategic location and the Greek soul, Taormina is one of the most beautiful places in the world. The town was built on a fertile hill (200 m above a turquoise sea) and overlooks the beautiful bay of Isola Bella with a spectacular view of Mount Etna. Taormina combines the natural beauty with the artistic and archaeological heritage: in addition to the nice cathedral and the streets of the old town, Taormina is famous for its ancient theatre (built by the Greeks around the second century BC). Have time for lunch and shopping.

Our Tip: drive to Castelmola, a small village just a few kmfar from Taormina but in highest position. In Castelmola you can see the remains of the Roman castle and the massive Normans walls. Taste a fine Etna wine and enjoy a magnificent view that extends all the way across the most of the Ionian coast of Sicily.

Day 6 Syracuse and Val di Noto

After breakfast move to the South-East and reach Syracuse, “the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all”, in the opinion of Cicero.

The town (included in the Unesco Heritage Site list in 2005) is almost 2700 years old: it was founded by Ancient Greek Corinthians and Teneans on the island of Ortigia*. The opportunity to drive along the Syracuse circuit attracts all car racing enthusiasts. It was, in 1951 and 1971, the location of the opening Grand Prix of Europe.

Then move to Noto, one of the greatest expressions of Sicilian Baroque. Enjoy all the stunning hairpin turns through Val di Noto, a breath-taking landscape full of calcareous formations and natural reserves.

Our Tip: spend some time in Ortigia, the heart of the ancient Syracuse. Visit the remains of Greek civilization, first of all the temple of Athena, incorporated in the cathedral, that is also the first Christian church in Europe. Enjoy a great lunch at a traditional Sicilian cuisine restaurant (price on request). Then, visit the archaeological park of Syracuse with the Greek theatre (the largest and the best preserved in the entire Hellenic world), the Ear of Dionysus and the Roman amphitheatre.

Day 7 Cyclops Coast andMt. Etna

After breakfast enjoy a great driving experience along a stunning circuit which starts from the Cyclops Coast and ends to the most panoramic point of Mt. Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe (3.300 m) added to the list of Unesco World Heritage Sites in June 2013. During the circuit you can enjoy the extraordinary landscapes made of volcanic rocks and the blue waters of the Ionian Sea. The area between Linguaglossa and Randazzo has the most famous wine houses of Sicily*.

Drive between Savoca and Forza d'Agro, two nice small town near Taormina; they were the location for the scenes set in Corleone of Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather.

Return to your hotel in the afternoon and deliver the car to our assistant. Have a dinner at the hotel restaurant and spend your night at leisure.

Day 8 Taormina - Airport

After breakfast check-out your hotel and have a direct transfer* by private car/minibus from Taormina to the airport Fontanarossa (Catania Airport**)

*According to the departure time it is possible to enjoy some cultural activity or enjoy a lunch based on the traditional Sicilian cuisine at a typical restaurant in Catania (prices on request).
