National Folk Festival 2015: OverviewNational Folk Festival of Lok Virsa is the most known

and heavily visited annual event of twin cities. Ethos: This Folk Festival is meant to project,

promote, disseminate and revive the folk art and craft of this country and to help boost the morale of folk artists and folk crafts people.

Crafts people are fully sponsored to display and sell their hand made articles and are rewarded with meritorious awards .

Likewise folk artists are fully sponsored and paid for their performances

It is a ten day (from 10 am to 10 pm) event (from 3rd April to 12th April, 2015 ) with an average daily turn up of 50,000 to 100,000 persons.

General features of Lok Mela

Lok Mela is a richly diverse program comprising leading musicians, dancers and folkloric arts and crafts practitioners from all across the country. Regional/Provincial Pavilions: house more than 250 stalls (with 500 artisans) displaying art and crafts; artisans at work exhibitions; folk cuisine; regional folk performances by dance parties, puppeteers, magicians and singers (400-500 artists). Musical Nights (8:00 pm to 10:00 pm) Folk TheatreNGOs and Public Sector’s PavilionKids Play Area Commercial area: displays 40-50 commercial stalls; restaurants and promotional kiosks
