MISSION STATEMENT:

Friends of the Tybee Theater is a non-profit organization dedicated to the transformation of the Post Theater into an operating performing arts and

cultural center.

VISION STATEMENT:

To operate the Tybee Post Theater successfully as an integral part of our community that enhances our

cultural experience, encourages and attracts visitors, and improves our quality of life.

The Tybee Post Theater is a community asset.

Once fully rehabilitated and operational, the Tybee Post Theater will seat approximately 250 and provide the only multi-purpose venue on the island for both local residents and visitors.

TYBEE POLAR PLUNGE

The Tybee Polar Plunge offers a fun and family event that attracts thousands of residents and visitors to Tybee Island on New Year’s Day.

On January 1, 2012, the 12th annual Tybee Polar Plunge included a Guinness World Records Official Attempt for the “Largest Gathering of People Wearing Swim Caps.”

2,049 people registered for this event which raised over $25,000 for the Tybee Post Theater. Tybee Island saw visitors from 36 states and 3 countries and the event drew local, regional and national media coverage. Thousands more observed the festivities and jumped into the Atlantic at noon.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

TYBEE WINE FESTIVAL

The Tybee Post Theater presented the first Tybee Wine Festival in April 2009. It was a single day event – a Grand Wine Tasting - held on the grounds of the Tybee Light Station and Museum. Approximately 250 people were in attendance. Each year since, the Tybee Wine Festival has added one more event to its schedule, including an Evening of Oysters & Wine, a Sunday Champagne Brunch and, in 2012, a Seafood School and tasting featuring five top regional cooks.

The 2012 Tybee Wine Festival, held April 12-15, attracted over 1,000 residents and visitors from 25 states and raised over $35,000 for the Tybee Post Theater. Since its inception, the Tybee Wine Festival has raised over $100,000 for the restoration and renovation of the Theater.

Each year the Tybee Wine Festival will continue to grow. More events will be added until it becomes a week-long event.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

TYBEE CRAFT BREW FESTIVAL

The Tybee Post Theater is planning its first Tybee Craft Brew Festival to be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 on the grounds of the Tybee Light Station and Museum.

The Festival is expected to draw hundreds of residents and visitors its first year.

The Festival will feature quality craft beers from local and regional breweries, culinary samplings from local restaurants, beer and food pairings and live entertainment by local and regional artists.

Marketing for all Tybee Post Theater events includes a multi-media mix of print, radio, television website, viral, posters, flyers and more.
