A task half done is as useless as
a task never begun.
Many of you have heard Paul Shero, who has preached in San Angelo for more than thirty years. Paul recently published a book, From Mother's Day to Father's Day, 43 Daily Devotionals for Families. The following comes from that book:
She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:27-28
It is usually mothers who hear the first cry. Mothers cook our food and remember what we like. Mothers remember birthdays. Mothers notice dirty ears. Mothers don't sleep as much or as soundly. Mothers know where the children go to school and even know the teacher's name. Mothers know when a shirt is too dirty to wear, and what goes with what. A mother's kiss will make any wound all better. Mothers insist we get our pictures made. Mothers take us to the dentist. Mothers see to it that our beds are made. Mothers make brothers treat each other nicely. Mothers taught us that if we pick it, it will never get well.
Without mothers, we would have poked our eye out with something.
Without mothers, daddies would never let their daughters date.
Without mothers, pets would go hungry.
Without mothers, teeth would never get brushed.
Without mothers, few kids would wear coats, hats, or mittens.
Without mothers, the world would be colder, harder, dirtier, smellier, and hungrier.
Paul Shero's book is available at Amazon.com or from The Jenkins Institute: www.thejenkinsinstitute.com/shop/from-mothers-day-to-fathers-day-43-devotionals
