SPIKE UP

CAPACITY AND CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

1.0 Overview Capacity and Capability Development (CCD) Program is a FREE training given to degree graduates.

The training are consist of six months where the participants are given intensive training on soft

skills as wells as skills that are related to their job. They are also given an Industrial Recognized

Certificate (IRC) in the areas of work they selected. Finally, the students will be given on the job

training with their host company.

2.0 Introduction SKALI is an outsource partner to design, develop and execute various value added training

programs that can enhances the training program initiated by Unit Perancangan Ekonomi (UPE),

JPM. The Spike Up Capability and Capacity Development Program is one of the training programs

set to reduce talent shortage in National Key Economic Area (NKEA).

2.1 SKALI Company Background

SKALI is a pioneer e-Business Specialist from Malaysia, a Bumiputera company with experience in

many Private Enterprise, SMEs and Government IT projects.

SKALI had successfully managed 152 government website and portal under Managed Portal

Services Project (MPS) which contributed the most 5 Star rating under Malaysian Government

Portal and Website Assessment (MGPWA) conducted by MDeC and MAMPU.

SKALI also has 6 years experience in conducting capability and capacities development (CCD)

training programs under MPS Project and has produced notable achievements

2.2 Capacity and Capability Development (CCD) Program Capacity and Capability Development (CCD) program is an initiative from the Unit Perancang

Ekonomi, JPM (UPE) and TalentCorp to give underachievers and unemployed graduates training,

enhances knowledge, skills and self esteem.

It is a 6-month training program for the university graduates to enhance their skill sets, both on soft

and hard skill as well as being exposed to the real working environment.

2.3 MPS Project Capacity and Capabilities Development (CCD) Snapshot Furthermore, SKALI has been providing training for the past 6 years. To date, our graduates have

been working in various industries. They have successfully obtained their IRC and working for

MNCs, the Government and large private sector companies.

SKALI CCD EDP program started in 2007 focusing in

assisting local graduates to have job or to obtain better

job or to become entrepreneur.

To date we have trained 680 apprentices to become

skilled ICT workers and entrepreneurs.

Our program is approved by EPU and MDEc with

Industry Recognized Certification programs.

Our training program is in accordance with

international standard of Kirkpatrick Evaluation model.

Our training specialized program is coupled with

entrepreneur development program and CSR projects

over a 6 months period.

Our program has produced 16 local entrepreneur

companies.

3.0 Objectives Reduce talent shortage in National Key Economic Area (NKEA) by acquire participation of

graduates to the program.

Promote hand-on training and prioritize on specific training to enable effective contribution with

no cost to the graduates.

Act as another talent channel for the industry by providing skilled graduates with IRC certification

at job entry point.

4.0 Benefits to the students A) Graduates:

The training program is evaluated in accordance with international standards of the

Kirkpatrick course (the four level).

5.0 The requirements for the program The following are the requirements for the program;

For Degree holders in any fields

For Bumiputras only.

6.0 Industry Recognized Certificates (IRC) Offered The program currently offers seven (7) job roles for the participants to choose from. Each job roles

are given different trainings and classes to well suit the profession.

The program also offers the participants to take Industrial Recognized Certificate (IRC) for each job

roles they selected. The IRC given are an added value to the participants selected field of industry.

7.0 Project Manager

7.1 Job Descriptions A project manager is a professional in the field of project management. Project managers can have

responsibility of the planning, execution and closing of any project, typically relating to

construction, architecture, aerospace and defense, computer networking, telecommunications or

software development. The program offers training related with management skills and knowledge.

The followings are the main subjects for the project manager’s training program.

7.3 Certified Associates in Project Management (CAPM) The IRC offered is provided by PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). It is a

valuable entry-level certification for project practitioners. Designed for those with little or no

project experience, the CAPM demonstrates your understanding of the fundamental knowledge,

terminology and processes of effective project management. Whether you are new to project

management, or already serving as a subject matter expert on project teams, the CAPM can get your

career on the right path or take it to the next level.

8.0 AutoCAD expert

8.1 Job Descriptions AutoCAD is a software application for 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting.

Generally, AutoCAD is used across a range of industries, including architects, project managers and

engineers, among other professions. It is mainly used for detailed engineering of 3D models and/or

2D drawings of physical components, but it is also used throughout the engineering process from

conceptual design and layout of products, through strength and dynamic analysis of assemblies to

definition of manufacturing methods of components. It can also be used to design objects.

9.0 Content Management

9.1 Job Descriptions Content management (CM) is the set of processes and technologies that support the collection,

managing, and publishing of information in any form or medium. When stored and accessed via

computers, this information has come to be referred to, simply, as content or, to be precise, digital

content. Digital content may take the form of text (such as electronic documents), multimedia files

(such as audio or video files), or any other file type that follows a content lifecycle

requiring management.

10.0 Programmer

10.1 Job Descriptions A programmer, computer programmer, developer, coder, or software engineer is a person who

writes computer software. The term computer programmer can refer to a specialist in one area

of computer programming or to a generalist who writes code for many kinds of software. One who

practices or professes a formal approach to programming may also be known as a programmer

analyst.

10.3 Oracle Certified Professional Program, Java SE 6 Programmer This certification is for programmers experienced using the Java programming language. Achieving

this certification provides clear evidence that a programmer understands the basic syntax and

on server and desktop systems using J2SE 5.0.

11.0 Software Engineer

11.1 Job Descriptions Software engineers apply the principles of engineering to the design, development, maintenance,

testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers or anything containing

software work.

11.3 Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (CPRE) The CPRE is an international accepted qualification for requirements engineers and business

12.0 Network Technician

12.1 Job Descriptions A Computer Network Technician is an information technology professional engaged in various

businesses to build and troubleshoot computer networks. These individuals focus on setup, repair,

and troubleshooting of both hardware and software products that are incorporated in a business’s

operations.

12.3 Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is a certification program for entry-level network

engineers that helps maximize your investment in foundational networking knowledge and

increase the value of your employer's network. CCNA Routing and Switching is for Network

Specialists, Network Administrators, and Network Support Engineers with 1-3 years of experience.

The CCNA Routing and Switching validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and

troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks.

13.0 Software Tester

13.1 Job Descriptions Software tester conducts investigation to provide stakeholders with information about the quality

of the product or service under test. Software testing can also provide an objective, independent

view of the software to allow the business to appreciate and understand the risks of software

implementation. Test techniques include, but are not limited to the process of executing a program

or application with the intent of finding software bugs (errors or other defects).

13.3 Certified Tester Foundation Level The CTFL certification is aimed at professionals who need to demonstrate practical knowledge of

the fundamental concepts of software testing. This includes people in roles such as test designers,

test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers and IT

Professionals.

The Foundation Level qualification is also appropriate for anyone who needs a basic understanding

of software testing, such as project managers, quality managers, software development managers,

business analysts, IT directors and management consultants.

14.0 CCD Road Map The training program would consist for six (6) months which the final three (3) months placement

with the host company. It have three phases which starts with intensive classroom training for two

months, followed by IRC Exam Preparation in third months, next is the `on job training’ (OJT) for

three months and finally placement with the host company in the following months.

14.1 Intensive Classroom Training Program In the first two months, the program will prepare the students with soft skills training and basic

subjects that are relevant to the job roles. Below are the soft skills subjects that will be taught to all

the students

Presentation Skill

Intensive English

The Job training will take place on weekdays only which is from Monday to Friday. Schedule will be

given upon the first day of the training. For your information, the schedule is not stringent meaning

the week will not be fully packed with activities. Basically the timing of the class is as follows;

Only on weekdays (Monday to Friday)

Time from 9AM – 5PM (There will be breaks from time to time depending on the class)

14.2 IRC Exam Preparation In the third months, the students will be prepared with the essentials training courses to pass the

IRC Exam tests. The students needed to pass the exams which depend on the terms and conditions

provided by the organizations. If the students somehow failed the test, they will be reconsidered

and appealed to take the test again or be released from the program. Retests are on the discretion

of SKALI Company.

14.3 On Job Training (OJT) and Job Placement In the final three months of the training, the students will be subjected to take on an industrial

training with the host company. It is up to the host company to arrange their own training program

that suits to their scope. The student performance will also be evaluated by the host company. It is

up to the host company whether they will absorb the students to the company. If the students

somehow failed to perform and rejected by the host company, the students will be reconsidered to

be attached to SKALI Company or other companies or released from the program. The attachment

is on the discretion of SKALI Company.

15.0 Allowances The allowances differ subjecting to the host companies. Therefore, in the beginning six months of

the training, the students will be given minimum RM300 of allowances for each months of the

training program. When the students are subjected to be given allowances by the host company in

any period of the six months of training, the amount will be added with the allowances already

given by the host company.

16.0 Accommodations Accommodations will not be provided during the whole period of the training program. If there is

any difficulty in finding places to stay, you may please appeal your issues with our staff as in contact

details provided in the document.

17.0 Registration There are currently three intake for the year 2014. The details are as follows;

18.1 Tips The easiest way to come to Menara Sentul is by taking the LRT to Menara Sentul, from there you can

only walk for a few minutes. It is encouraged for first timers to take the taxi from Sentul Timur to be

familiar with the area. Please tell the taxi drivers to go to Ong Thye Kim (OTK), a shopping mall that

resides in Menara Sentul as the local are more familiar with the name.
