2014 Activity Report:

1. Student members Activity: Hot summer Hot youth

Date： 2014.6.17

Attender: All members of Xidian Univ. Chapter

We hold an activity to welcome our chapter members. First I give all members a training

session for team work and team building. After that, all members are divided into four groups.

Each group need to draw a poster for their group and need to finish a series of team work games.

We offer those winners with excellent gifts. We also did a feedback survey and the survey result

shows everyone enjoys this activity.

With this activity we increase the communication with each other and help us to develop more

efficiently.

2. Officer travel to SPIE Optics & Photonics 2014

Date: 2014.8.23-2015.8.31

Travelor: Jiahui Liu

As our vice chapter’s President, Jiahui Liu applied the travel grant to SPIE Optics & Photonics

2014 at San Diego. She attended the SPIE student chapter leadership workshop on Aug 24 where

she met many other chapter officers. She learned many team leader and team work skills.

She visited the SPIE exhibition and planned to make a poster of our chapter next year.

3. The exhibition of pictures for SPIE

The report introduces four parts like that : the found of International Society for Optical

Engineering(SPIE),the student branch of SPIE, the history of optical and modern optical. The

most prominent is introduced the optical development, including various periods and their

representatives,and the main achievements in every period, through which we can help our

member of SPIE to learn more about the optical development so as to broaden our eyes and do our

best for our country in optical.

4. 2014 SPIE student member recruitment

Date : 2014.11

We recruit more new students to attend our chapter. Now we have 45 SPIE student members.

We are planning to enroll more at 2014.

In order to have better understandings of others’ research fields and enhance the

communications and connections between members, a series of seminars were organized for

members and non-members. We held the Xidian SPIE student members recruitment activity. The

old members introduced the situation of Xidian student chapter and arranged the works of new

activities in the future. After the official course, we introduced ourselves one by one to make the

new student to know each other and our old members well.

5. Annual Activity: Fight and Endeavour

Date: 2014.12.7

Attender: All members of Xidian Univ. Chapter

We hold a series of fun games to welcome our chapter members. First the chapter Jiaojiao

made a speech about the theme, and then officer candidates published their election manifestos.

All members are divided into four groups. Each group need to draw an poster for their group and

need to finish a series of team work games. We offer those winners with excellent gifts. Everyone

likes these fun games very well.

2015 Activity Plan:

1. Invite one international professor to give us an academic lecture.

2. Call team building activity.

3. Advertise SPIE and our chapter.

4. Invite at least two domestic professor to give us academic reports.

5. Attending SPIE conference to make connection with more chapters.

6. Recruit new members.

7. Maintain a website of our chapter.
