Y ou have tools for work, camping supplies, or golf clubs that you like to keep near you at all times but you drive a pickup and want a way

to keep them safe and locked away when you’re not using them. So what’s the best solution? It used to be construction work-ers were the only group with the secret but today, more and more people are fig-uring out that pickup tool boxes are the way to go. And if it involves a pickup you know Dee Zee is in the mix.

The most common style on the road is known as the crossover, which spans the width of the bed extending over the sides. Dee Zee currently offers over 35 styles of crossovers (most available in two fin-ishes) with numbers available for almost every pickup under the sun. If a cross-over doesn’t fit the bill, the Des Moines, Iowa based manufacturer offers 171 part numbers in total for dry storage as well as 40 liquid transfer tanks.

Tool boxes at Dee Zee are broken up into several lines: Platinum Series, Blue Label, Red Label, Yellow Label and Specialty Series. Platinum and Blue are designed for industrial use vehicles. Beginning with the thickest aluminum, these boxes will hold up to any work site abuse. The distinct Platinum family features the mill-finish aluminum lid trim and extra wide profile measuring almost 30 inches. Blue Label boxes can be rec-ognized with the ergonomically designed push buttons that make opening a breeze. A rotating cover protects the lock from snow and mud.

The workhorse of Dee Zee’s tool box line is the Red Label. Variety is the key with seven different crossover styles alone. Whether you need single lid, split lid, gull wing, low profile or want extra storage with a railed lid, the Red Label has it all. Add to that a full compliment of utility chests and side mount boxes and you have the most well rounded selection of tool boxes around.

All Red Label boxes feature lockable stainless steel paddle handles and three-piece body design, which adds to overall body strength. The lids are among the strongest on the market with full pan sup-port and a double-v stiffener design.

When you want pickup storage with no-frills, the Yellow Label is for you. Part numbers are available for full and mid sized pickups, all for an economical price.

Dee Zee’s Specialty Series is the defini-tion of a complete line of storage prod-

ucts. No matter what you use your truck for, there is some-thing here for you in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials.

Liquid Transfer Tanks are a must for those dealing with heavy machinery needing to keep diesel fuel close at hand. Available in Brite-Tread alumi-num as well as 14-gauge steel, Dee Zee tanks are built for any number of applications, ranging in capacity from 38 gallons all the way up to 110 gallons. For those who also need a place to

store tools and other gear, there are four different combo tanks with a Utility Chest already bolted in place. The recent part-nership with GPI® allows DeeZee to offer a full line of tank pumps and accessories.

Blow molded polyethylene is the newest material in Dee Zee’s tool box lineup. Two sizes of chests and the triangle trailer box benefit from this lightweight, yet durable plastic, making

them a truly portable storage option that could be used almost anywhere.

Possibilities are endless for the Specialty Series. If you need a box to transport a dog, to fit behind the wheel well, on an ATV, under a flat bed or on the job site, DeeZee can provide it.

Truck owners used to know Dee Zee at “the running board people” but in an effort to be a single source for their cus-tomers, they’ve dedicated endless hours of research and engineering to ensure the tool boxes they provide are the best available.

The 2010 Jeep® Liberty gives customers an “only in a Jeep” open-air experience with its industry-exclusive

Sky Slider full-length open canvas roof. New for 2010 is interactive Decel Fuel

Shut Off (iDFSO). Standard on all models, iDFSO turns off fuel during vehicle decel-eration, which improves fuel economy without any noticeable changes in engine performance. In addition, the new stan-dard fuel-saver indicator displays when the vehicle is driven in a fuel-efficient manner.

Other standard features for 2010 include front-row Active Head Restraints, premium seat trim with stain-repel seat fabric, air filtration system and larger floor mats.

The 2010 Jeep Liberty features the industry-exclusive Sky Slider full-length open canvas roof. The Sky Slider roof may be moved to several positions, including full forward, full rear or partial-ly open to any position in between with a convenient express one-touch switch.

A 3.7-liter V-6 engine is standard on all Jeep Liberty models. The 3.7-liter engine produces 210 horsepower (157 kW) @ 5,200 rpm and 235 lb.-ft. (319 N•m) of torque @ 4,000 rpm.

The 2010 Jeep Liberty offers two four-wheel-drive systems. Command-Trac II® is a part-time four-wheel-drive system,

which is the standard 4WD configuration. Command-Trac II operates in 2WD, 4WD Lock, 4 WD Low and Neutral.

The optional Selec-Trac II® is a full-time, active on-demand four-wheel-drive system. Select-Trac II operates in 2WD, 4WD Auto, 4WD Low and Neutral.

The 2WD position is for normal driving and achieves optimal fuel economy as the front driveshaft is disengaged from the transfer case, and power is directed to rear wheels.

The Command-Trac II® 4WD Lock position locks the front and rear drive-shaft together and forces front and rear wheels to rotate at the same speed. These positions are intended for loose or slip-pery road surfaces only.

In the Select-Trac II 4WD Auto position, the transfer case anticipates and prevents wheel slip. It is ideal for a range of road settings, including dry pavement condi-tions not typically suited for conventional part-time four-wheel-drive systems.

4WD Low is for true off-road condi-tions and is engaged at speeds of 0-2 mph. Front and rear driveshafts are locked together and a second gearset multiplies torque which provides traditional Jeep capability. 4WD Low is suitable for speeds less than 30 mph.

Vehicles equipped with Jeep Liberty’s four-wheel-drive systems are Trail Rated®.

New for 2010:•Interactive Decel Fuel Shut Off (iDFSO) •Fuel-Saver with “ECO” lamp indicator in cluster •Standard front-row Active Head Restraints •Uconnect™ Phone (Limited model) •Front-passenger Express-up power window (Limited model) •Power heated manual folding mirrors (Sport model) •Standard air filtration system •Standard premium seat trim with stain-repel seat fabric and front- passenger fold-flat seat •Leather interior seat trim (Limited model) •Heated front seats (Limited model) •Power driver and passenger leather seats with manual lumbar control (Limited model) •Larger floor mats standard •Light Sandstone Metallic replaces Light Graystone exterior color

2011 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5L Offers New, Innovative Auto Access Seat

Toyota displayed an inno-vative Auto Access Seat, designed for use in the all-new 2011 Toyota Sienna

minivan, for the first time at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Toyota is the first automaker in North America to offer a factory-installed, rotating, power ascending/descend-ing lift-up seat. Designed internally, the Auto Access Seat will offer a new level of comfort and convenience to anyone who may need assistance getting in or out of a vehicle.

Factory installed at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI) assem-bly plant, the Auto Access Seat offers consumers a seamless purchase-process alternative to the current aftermarket installation method, which requires the consumer to purchase their vehicle and then have it modified by an aftermarket supplier.

The Sienna minivan equipped with the Auto Access Seat will offer a much need-ed transportation solution for the caregiv-ers of an elderly parent or spouse with a walking disability, a disabled veteran, or for the parents of child with a disability.

The Auto Access Seat features a one-touch operation and benefits from the all-new Sienna’s spacious interior and wide-opening sliding doors. A seat-mounted ingress/egress switch and a

wireless remote control allows for easy and flexible seat operation. The seat rotates 90 degrees and can be lowered to within 19 inches of the ground to further facilitate easier passenger transfers at the exact height required.

Once inside, the Auto Access Seat occupant can utilize reclining and slide switches located on both sides of the seat. This allows operation of up to four inches of slide travel and reclining of up to 24 degrees. The auto-recline feature also allows for safe head clearance through the door frame during entry and exit. The compact design of the seat also provides ample legroom for third-row passengers.

The Auto Access Seat is equipped with a number of safety attributes, including an audible beep when the seat is in opera-tion, and a park-shift interlock feature

that prevents seat operation if the vehicle is not in the “Park” position. A sliding door sensor allows the seat to operate only when the sliding door is completely open. Two audible beeps will warn the user of a partially open sliding-door con-dition, or if the seat is not fully stowed when the door close button is pressed. A manual retraction function allows the seat to be retracted fully in the event of a vehicle power failure.

The Auto Access Seat also features obstruction-detection programming, which notifies the operator with two audi-ble beeps and halts seat operation. The seat will retract when an obstruction is met to facilitate easier removal of the object.

Additional safety features include Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) to properly secure any iso-fix style child safety seat. The Auto Access Seat meets all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).

The Auto Access Seat will be avail-able on Sienna LE and XLE models. The seat fabric matches the vehicle interior fabric and has a stain- and odor-resistant treatment. The seat is vinyl trimmed on the XLE model to better match the XLE grade interior style and allows for easier passenger transfer.

The Range Rover Sport Supercharged is powered by the same 510-horsepower version of the LR-V8 as the Range Rover Supercharged. The 5.0-liter direct-injection engine is fortified with an Eaton™ twin-vortex supercharger and dual intercoolers, all of which are packaged within the engine's V for a

V8 has a deep, pressure die-cast oil pan to accommodate extreme tilting angles. Belt drives are waterproofed, as are the alternator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump and starter motor. With the use of 5W-20 semi-synthetic oil, normal service intervals are extended to 15,000 miles (24,000 km) or 12 months.

For those yearning to make a statement on the road, Buick’s popular luxury crossover gets available 20-

inch wheels for 2010, as well as several technologies that add value and conve-nience.

A USB port is included with premium radios. Located in the center console, it allows customers to connect portable music with the vehicle sound system and charge the batteries. In addition, a new rear backup camera features a screen embedded in the inside rearview mirror,

allowing customers to enjoy this option even without the navigation radio.

The available navigation radio now includes XM NavTraffic, a real-time traf-fic reporting system available in selected markets.

Enclave’s standard OnStar system includes enhanced emergency, OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics and navigation capa-bilities. For example, OVD now moni-tors operation of the StabiliTrak stability enhancement system.

How To...

This How To Install shows you step by step instructions on brake shoe installation with no fancy tools, just the common ones available from your toolbox. These instructions are based on a Ford 150, but uses the same method and concept on all rear brake shoe vehicles. Basic tools needed: • Side Cutter Pliers • Straight Pliers • Small and Large Flat Head Screwdrivers

Step 1: Place jack in secure area. Once truck is lifted ALWAYS secure with proper jack stands.

Step 3: Very important step. All springs and components have a sequence they are removed and re-installed in. (Note: Have a good visual or take a picture if needed for this so that proper re-installation can be achieved.)

Step 2: Remove wheel to get access to drum for removal. (Some drums may be rusted and in need of a good wack with your hammer to be freed up in order to slide off.)

Step 4: Using your side cutters or screwdriv-ers, remove springs and components top and bottom. (Note: Do not remove brake shoe holding springs before doing this.)

Step 5: Remove brake shoe holding springs using your straight pliers.

The American Bison is rec-ognized as one of the most “American” of icons. That Dave Harriton of American

Expedition Vehicles (AEV) would select the Bison as his corporate logo is appro-priate. You see, Dave and AEV are the classic American success story where a young man putting hard work and talent together manages to create something special from very little. Dave got AEV started in 1997 in Missoula, Montana. At the time he had a tiny garage, a cobbled-together set of tools and a small bank loan. But, with just these resources he was able to build a special vehicle that would take him from automotive obscu-rity to win a Chrysler Design Excellence Award at the 1998 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The award-winning vehicle was a Jeep TJ that Dave had lengthened 18-inches. So remarkable was the attention to detail that the vehicle literally appeared to have come from the factory. In fact Chrysler executives may well have thought the vehicle was produced by one of their own and it certainly left the public scratching their heads. Following the SEMA show, word got around and Dave began to take orders. In hindsight it is now clear that there was a market for a trail-capable vehicle like the Jeep TJ, but with more interior room for families and cargo. Years later, Chrysler eventually took this to heart when it launched the Jeep LJ, which was very similar to AEV’s original concept.

Following Dave’s initial success at SEMA, AEV grew and went on to build a variety of other amazing show vehicles.

Among them was the Africana which was based off of the 4-door Jeep Cherokee and featured a notched back that formed a short pick-up bed. Interestingly, the Africana earned AEV its second Chrysler Design Achievement Award at the 1999 SEMA Show. Other show vehicles includ-ed the Iceland Jeep Commander, the Mojave Grand Cherokee and the CRD Diesel TJ. But perhaps the most famous AEV show vehicle of all was the Brute. For this vehicle Dave once again took a conventional Jeep TJ, but rather than simply lengthening it, this time the vehi-cle was converted to a true pick-up truck configuration. This was done by short-ening the cab, lengthening the chassis and adding a fully functional 6-foot bed. Debuting at the 2002 SEMA show, the Brute went on to earn a third Chrysler Design Excellence Award for AEV.

By 2006 AEV had attracted the atten-tion of an outside investor from the steel forming industry in Michigan. A new part-nership was formed and with this came access to a wealth of OE manufacturing technologies the likes of which had never been employed in the Jeep aftermarket. Chief among these technologies was steel stamping. Long used by the big three to produce body panels and other contoured vehicle components, stamping opened up an enormous world of styling and engi-neering options to AEV. At this same time Jeep was unveiling its new JK model. AEV seized this opportunity and at the 2006 SEMA show launched several new stamped steel products for the JK. These included a stylish hood, winch-compat-ible front bumper and corner guards. AEV also revisited the Jeep TJ and launched a

do-it-yourself, production version of the 2002 SEMA concept Brute and the new Highline Body Kit. The Highline Body Kit introduced jeep owners to the idea of larger tires with less suspension lift, which equaled a lower center of gravity. It did so with a beautifully blended pair of stamped steel fenders incorporating raised, oversized wheel openings. This product went on to earn AEV an amaz-ing fourth Chrysler Design Excellence Award at the 2006 SEMA show. Overall, AEV’s new line of stamped steel acces-sories instantly set the company apart by offering Jeep owners a level of “factory” appearance, fit and function that until then was simply not available.

Today, AEV is known worldwide as an innovator and designer of exception-ally high-quality Jeep accessories. AEV is also known for its turn-key vehicles. Though the stretched TJ is no longer pro-duced, AEV’s turn-key Brute conversions and HEMI-powered Jeep JKs are high-ly sought after. Operations for AEV are now located in three states with manu-facturing and warehousing in Michigan, research and development in Montana and sales and marketing in Washington. Dave continues to head the design and engineering department and steel stamp-ing remains the manufacturing backbone of AEV’s extensive line of Jeep acces-sories. Of course the American Bison remains the company’s logo and in keep-ing with American themes, AEV proudly manufacturers over 90% of its products in the United States. In our minds, that is just one more reason why this really is an American success story. SG

E xceeding expectations within brand name recog-nition and sales is not an easy task in today’s mar-

ket. Truck Covers USA for example began manufacturing and distributing their first roll cover tonneau line in 2001 at their facility in San Diego, CA. Nine years and seven SEMA Shows later, they prepare for their biggest year yet. After seeing substantial growth in their dealer net-work and fleet industry business since SEMA 2009, where they wowed attendees and exhibitors alike, they plan for SEMA 2010 and beyond to be their time to shine on their high-end tonneau cover.

The company has proven that there is a huge demand for a high-quality, pre-mium roll cover. They’ve also proven that price is not so much of an issue when there is quality, durability and value. Nils Forssman, President of Truck Covers USA, believes that the truck marketplace has evolved into a showplace of possibilities and opportunities in this market. Truck Covers USA perfected and upgraded their signature product, the American Roll Cover, with new innova-tions such as the keyless entry. They also discovered another niche in the market and devel-oped the American Work Cover, a tool box and roll cover combi-nation. “The cover is awesome looking with the same unsur-passed quality,” says Forssman. “A must have for any work truck.”

“Consumers are smart,”continues Forssman. “They do their homework, know the differences and are prepared to pay for quality that comes with value. Truck Covers USA will continue to improve and revolutionize the roll cover industry with their innovative research and product development.” Forssman also says that the company is committed to educate the retail truck accessory

dealer who doesn’t know enough about Truck Covers USA and its products.

With new innovative features and products for 2011, Truck Covers USA sets itself apart from the competition. “The company is not in business to produce truck covers that represent the industry

standard, they are in business to become the industry standard,” says Forssman. “After seeing the number of requests rapidly growing for the American Roll Cover to be modified to fit a particular truck bed along with an existing tool box, research and development was implemented to combine these two much needed products

for the ideal work truck combination; Security, Style and Simplicity,” he added. The American Work Cover has become the preferred unit for fleets across the nation.

Truck Covers USA invites you to stop by SEMA Booth #34107 to see what they have to offer. Exciting new products and features will be demonstrated in their booth in the Truck and SUV Hall. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN! You will see Truck Covers USA all over the Convention Center as well as on a variety of feature vehicles. For more information you can contact Truck Covers USA at 888-808-2872 or visit them on the web at www.truckcoversusa.com. SG

What’s included: Die-cast aluminum linkage assemble, upper mount, composite step and hardware

The first step is to connect the linkage assembly to the mounting bracket. Using the supplied bolts, tighten to the specified torque.

The adapter bracket simply bolts to the driver-side, rear bumper mounts. Remove the bumper/frame mounting nuts, slide the bracket over the factory bumper bolts and re-install the nuts and tighten.

Slide the threaded metal tabs into the slots on the step pad.

Attach the BedStep step pad to the linkage assembly. Secure with the supplied allen-head bolts.

To use the BedStep, place your foot on the outside corner and push down. When your done, give it a nudge with your foot and a spring-loaded cam retracts the step under the bumper.

The folks at LinerXtreeme have 20 years of experience in the spray liner business. Over the years their liners have been used on

truck beds, but now it is also an ideal protective coating on everything from ATVs, UTVs, trailers, tool boxes, speaker boxes etc. They offer a unique selection of products to meet any and all of YOUR needs. They actually have three types of LINERS… three different chemical for-mulations!

Epoxy – Urethane Blend – This is their standard workhorse. Semi-gloss when sprayed. This product is virtually goof proof and will not run! EXCELLENT ADHESION and good UV. Textures by itself with or without rubber. Black is a standard, but they can also make thou-sands of dark colors and even a clear base.

Polyurethane - This is their best UV product. White, gray and all light colors

come standard in this product. Matte fin-ish, which makes it great on boat decks – less glare. Also, the product that you want for those CAMO jobs. If doing the whole exterior of a vehicle, this is what product that you will want to use for long term color durability. If you must have a gloss finish, this product can also be cleared!

Epoxy – Black only, highest gloss. It has the best adhesion and chemical pro-tection. Great for industrial, farm or com-mercial applications. UV is okay, but not as good as the two first choices.

They also include a fine rubber addi-tive or a heavy rubber crumb for the most aggressive finish.

There is never a big investment to get started. This product sells itself. You can actually make a profit on your first $200 purchase and you are in business!

Larson Electronics’ Magnalight Unviels Explosion Proof LED Light for Paint and Powder Spray Booths

Larson Electronics unveiled the EPL-LED7W-SFC explosion proof LED light suitable for paint and powder spray booth appli-cations. The UL rated Class 1 Division 1 and Class 2 Division 1 rated LED light can be pendant, wall or ceiling mounted within hazardous location areas.

Larson Electronics’ released the latest explosion proof LED light in their growing range of high output, efficient lighting. In addition to a wide range of four foot and two foot LED linear fluorescent explosion proof fixtures, magnalight.com added a new surface mount Class 1 and Class 2 LED light for hazardous location areas.

The EPL-LED7W-SFC explosion proof LED light is a replacement for standard ceiling, wall or pendant

mount incandescent lights. Carrying both explosion proof and paint spray booth

light UL certifications, the

new hazardous location 7 watt LED light provides 40% more light at 10 feet than a 100 watt incandescent light. The specially designed LED module operates below ambient temperatures and focuses all light produced in a downward direction, optimizing usable the light available for general area lighting.

“Federal and state lawmakers are busy legislating the 100 watt incandescent light bulb out of existence, so we are offer-ing explosion proof LED solutions that will help operators avoid obsolescence,” said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com. “Since lawmakers generally operate in a vacu-um far from reality, they are looking towards compact fluores-cents. However, LEDs are already more efficient, brighter and longer lasting than compact fluorescents. So operators looking to minimize maintenance and optimize their total cost of ownership of hazardous location lighting need to be putting explosion proof LED lights into their plans. If US lawmakers follow in the foot-steps in international efforts to eliminate mercury, fluorescent bulbs will follow the incandescent bulb into legal obsolescence soon. The Magnalight LED lights are well known in military circles for durability and substantial forward light projection, and we bring that same optics proficiency to our explosion proof LED lights.”

Larson Electronics offers a wide array of explosion proof LED lighting, including explosion proof LED flashlights, explosion proof LED paint spray booth light carts and portable hazardous location LED lighting. You can learn more about hazardous loca-tion LED lighting and general area LED lighting at magnalight.com or contact 1-800-369-6671 (1-903-498-3363 international).

Firestone Industrial Products Introduces Coil-Rite Air Helper Spring Kit for 2011 GM Full-Size SUVs

Firestone Industrial Products Company, LLC announces a new Coil-Rite™ air helper spring kit (part #4186) designed spe-cifically for 2011 General Motors full-size SUVs, including the 2011 Cadillac Escalade, ESV, EXT; Chevrolet Avalanche 1500; Chevrolet Suburban 1500; Chevrolet Tahoe; and GMC Yukon 1500.

“These Coil-Rite kits are designed to accommodate the latest changes in automobile design, such as the new GM full-size SUVs that have a smaller, 4-inch diameter coil than previous model years, and to deliver the same leveling, braking and handling benefits customers have come to expect from the Firestone product line,” said Todd Green, regional sales manager, Firestone Industrial Products, Ride-Rite division.

Firestone’s Coil-Rite air helper springs fit inside a vehicle’s existing coil spring and can be adjusted for varying loads and road conditions by increasing and decreasing the air pressure within the helper springs, which is as easy as adjusting the air pressure in a tire. They help maximize the vehicle’s safe load carrying capacity, as well as increase vehicle stability, improve steering control and braking effectiveness, level headlight beams and reduce tire wear. The product can also help absorb road shock, providing a smooth ride for passengers and reducing the potential “bottoming out” that can be experienced in a heavily loaded SUV.

The no-drill Coil-Rite kit uses the truck’s factory holes for an easy installation that typically takes less than one hour. The kit, which has a two-year limited warranty and an MSRP of $125.95,

comes with the brackets, air springs, hardware, air lines and separate valves necessary for installation.

A pair of Coil-Rite air springs can provide up to 1,000 pounds of load leveling capacity. (Note: Air springs do not increase the load-carrying capacity of the vehicle. Do not exceed the vehicle’s recommended Gross Vehicle Weight Rating [GVWR]). Firestone also offers an Air-Rite™ air accessory system that allows drivers to adjust the air with a push of a button installed on the dash-board.

Trained technicians are available toll-free (800.888.0650) to answer any product application, installation or warranty ques-tions Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST.

Firestone offers a line of Complete Suspension Solutions that includes Ride-Rite™, Sport-Rite™, Coil-Rite™ and Level-Rite™ air helper springs; Work-Rite™ load assist springs; and the R4Tech™ hybrid air/leaf suspension system. These products have become synonymous with quality, durability and outstand-ing customer support. For more information, visit www.ride-rite.com.

L ast issue, readers were introduced to the Trinity product by DiabloSport. This article will delve deeper and answer many questions you may have. For further details, please visit www.diablosport.com.

Let’s cover the main features of the Trinity. Four of the main features which we will briefly cover are: Performance programmer, virtual gauge monitor, virtual drag strip, and diagnostic code reader.

The Trinity's tuning options vary depending on the vehicle that is being tuned. Gasoline powered vehicles feature tunes based on minimum octane ratings while Diesels are based on Horse Power Ratings. Example: if you have a 2009 Corvette your options in the tuning menu might be: 93 Octane Performance tune, 91 Octane Performance Tune, and other CAI tunes; and a 2007 F-350 with a 6.0L PowerStroke might have the options of stock, 40 HP, 65 HP, and 100 HP. (Note: These options may not be the same in all models and can vary based on the current update of the tool). The DiabloSport Trinity also supports custom tuning and can hold an additional five custom tunes. Custom tunes can be obtained from one of the many hundreds of DiabloSport CMR (chipmaster revolution tuning software) dealers. The Trinity also contains the most adjustable parameters in the market including correcting your speedometer for tire size changes, shift firmness, speed limiters, rev limiters, and many more.

With over 100MB of on board memory devoted solely to recording and playing back diagnostic PID/DMR data, it allows users to record hours and hours of continuous data streams directly from the vehicle's PCM/ECM. The Trinity interprets PID and DMR data received from the OBD-II Diagnostic port on your vehicle and converts it into a read-able format: A Virtual Gauge! Individual user customization is one of Trinity's most recognizable features. With Trinity's dynamic gauge layout there is literally an infinite number of combinations/customization of gauges to view! Users can even set up gauge alarms and shift points based on precise vehicle data and using the Trinity's LED lights. Choose sin-gle led lights, multiple lights, or a progressive climb of the lights-you can customize everything!

Using parameters such as vehicle speed, peak torque, wheel speed and others, the Trinity is able to accurately compute quarter mile, 1/8 mile or 0-60 and 0-100 time trials. Keep in mind that these numbers may or may not be accurate depending on variables such as wheel spin, but they sure are fun to see! The Trinity's virtual tree allows users to choose to either monitor their reaction time (like the real world) or have the tree start when they press the gas from a stop. There are advantages to both! If you are using reaction time, you will gain experience for the track when launching off the line while the motion start will show you the time less human error. It's your choice as to which you prefer!

Trinity can also be used as a diagnostic code reader. Save yourself hundreds of dollars each year reading/clearing your own computer codes rather than paying a dealer to do the same. It’s as easy as a few simple steps. The DiabloSport Trinity's diagnostic code reader function can be used on multiple Vehicles at any given time. Just remember, only one vehicle can be “tuned” at any given time. SG

Statement by American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Regarding Passenger Airbag Recall: 2010 Accord Crosstour

Honda will recall 3,336 2010 model year Accord Crosstour vehicles in the U.S. to inspect and potentially replace the front passenger airbag. Recent testing revealed that certain front passenger airbag modules installed in a limited number of 2010 Accord Crosstours do not meet one aspect of a U.S. federal regu-lation (FMVSS 208) that requires airbag deployment to be tested using an unbelted six year-old child-sized test dummy in the front seating area. No incidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue. (In many states, six year old children are not allowed to ride in a vehicle's front seat, and Honda specifi-cally recommends that children age 12 and under ride properly restrained in a vehicle's back seat.)

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage all owners of affected vehicles to take their Accord Crosstour to an authorized

dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda so their front passenger airbag can be inspected and, if necessary, replaced. Notification to customers will begin on September 22, 2010.

When Honda identifies concerns of this nature, nothing is more important to the company than fulfilling our obligation and responsibility to alert our customers. To this end in addition to contacting customers by mail, after September 22, owners of these vehicles can determine if their vehicle requires inspection by going on-line or calling Honda. Honda owners can go to www.recalls.honda.com or call (800) 999-1009, and select option 4.

The Warrior & Family Support Center, the non-profit ABA originally support-ed, is a 12,000 square foot rehabilitation center, funded solely by private dona-tions and it provides space for wound-ed soldiers undergoing treatment in San Antonio, allowing them to spend private

time with their friends and families when they are not actively participating in reha-bilitative treatment.

The Lone Star Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), a congres-sionally chartered veterans service orga-nization established on August 19th, 1989, is locally involved in the support of its members or veterans in the North Texas area who served in the armed forces and have experienced spinal cord injury or dysfunction. National Ban on Lead-based Ammunition, Fishing Tackle Sought to End Wildlife PoisoningLead Still a Potent Killer of Millions of Wild Birds, Health Risk for Humans

A coalition of conservation, hunting and veterinary groups today filed a formal petition with the Environmental Protection Agency requesting a ban on the use of toxic lead in hunting ammunition and fishing tackle. Major efforts to reduce lead exposure to people have greatly reduced the amount of lead in the environment, but toxic lead is still a widespread killer in the wild, harming bald eagles, trumpeter swans, endangered California condors and other wildlife.

“It’s long past time do something about this deadly – and preventable – epidemic of lead poisoning in the wild,” said Jeff Miller of the Center for Biological Diversity. “Over the past several decades we’ve wisely taken steps to get lead out of our gasoline, paint, water pipes and other sources that are dangerous to people. Now it’s time to get the lead out of hunting and fishing sports to save wildlife from needless poisoning.”

An estimated 10 million to 20 million birds and other animals die each year from lead poisoning in the United States. This occurs when animals scavenge on carcasses shot and contami-nated with lead bullet fragments, or pick up and eat spent lead-shot pellets or lost fishing weights, mistaking them for food or grit. Some animals die a painful death from lead poisoning while others suffer for years from its debilitating effects.

“The science on this issue is massive in breadth and unim-peachable in its integrity,” said George Fenwick, president of

Industry NewsAmerican Bird Conservancy. “Hundreds of peer-reviewed studies show continued lead poisoning of large numbers of birds and other animals, and this petition is a prudent step to safeguard wildlife and reduce unacceptable human health risks.”

American Bird Conservancy, Center for Biological Diversity, Association of Avian Veterinarians, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, and the hunters’ group Project Gutpile are asking for the ban under the Toxic Substances Control Act, which regulates dangerous chemicals in the United States.

"As a hunter in California, compliance with the recent state nonlead ammunition regulation has been simple," said Anthony Prieto, a hunter and co-founder of Project Gutpile, a hunter's group that provides educational resources for lead-free hunters and anglers. "I still get to hunt, there is no toxic impact on wild-life or my health, and copper bullets shoot better."

The petition references nearly 500 peer-reviewed scientific studies that starkly illustrate the widespread dangers from lead ammunition and fishing tackle. Lead is an extremely toxic substance that is dangerous to people and wildlife even at low levels. Exposure can cause a range of health effects, from acute poisoning and death to long-term problems such as reduced reproduction, inhibition of growth and damage to neurological development. In the United States, 3,000 tons of lead are shot into the environment by hunting every year, another 80,000 tons are released at shooting ranges, and 4,000 tons are lost in ponds and streams as fishing lures and sinkers. At least 75 wild bird species are poisoned by spent lead ammunition, including bald eagles, golden eagles, ravens and endangered California condors. Despite being banned in 1992 for hunting waterfowl, spent lead shotgun pellets continue to be frequently ingested by swans, cranes, ducks, geese, loons and other waterfowl. These birds

also consume lead-based fishing tackle lost in lakes and rivers, often with deadly consequences.

Lead ammunition also poses health risks to people. Lead bul-lets explode and fragment into minute particles in shot game and can spread throughout meat that humans eat. Studies using radiographs show that numerous, imperceptible, dust-sized par-ticles of lead can infect meat up to a foot and a half away from the bullet wound, causing a greater health risk to humans who consume lead-shot game than previously thought. A recent study found that up to 87 percent of cooked game killed by lead ammu-nition can contain unsafe levels of lead. State health agencies have had to recall venison donated to feed the hungry because of lead contamination from lead bullet fragments. Nearly 10 million hunters, their families and low-income beneficiaries of venison donations may be at risk.

BackgroundLead has been known to be highly toxic for more than 2,000

years. Its use in water pipes, cosmetics, pottery and food is suspected as a major contributing factor in the collapse of the Roman Empire. Lead causes numerous pathological effects on living organisms, from acute, paralytic poisoning and seizures to subtle, long-term mental impairment, miscarriage, neurologi-cal damage, and impotence. Even low levels of lead can impair biological functions.

There may be no safe level of lead in the body tissues of fetus-es and young. Despite knowledge of how dangerous lead is, it continues to be used in hunting and fishing products that expose wildlife and humans to lead. In recent decades the federal gov-ernment has implemented regulations to reduce human lead exposure in drinking water, batteries, paint, gasoline, toys, toxic dumps, wheel balancing weights, and shooting ranges.

The California condor, so near extinction in the mid-1980s that the last nine wild birds were captured for an expensive captive-breeding program, had a healthy enough captive population to begin reintroduction into the wild in the mid-1990s. Yet reintro-duced condors are far from safe since they feed on carcasses often containing lead bullet fragments. At least 30 condors in California and Arizona have died from lead poisoning since reintroductions began, and chronic, sub-lethal lead poisoning is rampant throughout the four reintroduced condor flocks in the United States. In 2008 California passed the Ridley-Tree Condor Preservation Act requiring use of non-lead bullets for hunting in the condor range. This law has reduced lead exposure, but lead bullets are still available in California and condors, eagles, and other wildlife continue to be poisoned.

Because there are now numerous, commercially available, non-toxic alternatives, the petitioning groups are urging the EPA to develop regulations to require non-lead rifle bullets, shotgun pellets, and fishing weights and lures throughout the nation. Non-toxic steel, copper, and alloy bullets and non-lead fishing tackle are readily available in all 50 states. Hunters and anglers in states and areas that have restrictions or have already banned lead have made successful transitions to hunting with non-toxic bullets and fishing with non-toxic tackle. Over a dozen manufac-turers of bullets have designed and now market many varieties of non-lead, nontoxic bullets and shot with satisfactory to superior ballistic characteristics – fully replacing the old lead projectiles. The Toxic Substances Control Act gives the EPA broad authority to regulate chemical substances that present an unreasonable risk of injury to health or the environment, such as lead. The EPA can prohibit the manufacture, processing, and distribution in commerce of lead for shot, bullets, and fishing sinkers.

From Bears to Bugles - See Elk in the OzarksKnown as the Bear State when it was first settled in the 1800s,

Arkansas kept that namesake for a long time, until the bear were nearly hunted out. Enter the elk.

In 1981, and for the next several years, 112 elk were trans-ported to Arkansas from Colorado and Nebraska and released to five different grassy areas along the Buffalo National River. Since that time the herd has grown to more than 450 and provide end-less opportunities for viewing. Boxley, and Erbie are two of the most popular sites to see elk. Mornings and evening are the best time to see them. Remember, these are still wild animals and should be treated with respect. Cows, calves and yearlings live in loose herds or groups. One viewer reported seeing two sepa-rate herds along the river’s edge in the Boxley valley numbering over 75 each on a March afternoon. During ”rut” (the mating sea-son”), cows and calves form harems with one or two bulls. The rut takes place in mid-September to mid-October each year. You might just be fortunate enough to hear the bull elk “bugling” dur-ing the rut season.

Fall and spring are the best times to catch the elk grazing in the luscious fields of Newton County, but never rule out seeing some in the summer months as well. Elk watching has increased in Arkansas every year. People enjoy viewing and photographing these one-of-a kind animals.

Wapiti (\’wa-p?-ti\), the Indian name for elk, translates into “white rump”, which all the Arkansas elk have. Mature bulls have antlers, huge antlers, and shed them once a year, then growing a new set. The new set has a fuzzy skin called velvet, and they will eventually lose the velvet over time and produce magnificent antlers. Bulls can weigh as much as 700 lbs. and measure up to eight-feet from nose to tail. They are very large.
