Spellings – Year 7

• Spellings are important, they help you with your reading and writing.

• Spellings improve our literacy skills and a key element needed in the wider world.

• In Year 7, you are tested in September and again in July – this can show how much you have progressed!

•Why do we have to do spellings?

Each Thursday, you will receive a set of spellings.

You will be tested on a Tuesday.

Your spellings will be given to you on a sheet, it will include the word in a sentence and a space for you to practice.

Don’t worry if you lose your spellings, they will be on the VLE – so NO excuses!

Spellings that you are given will work with a particular sound or spelling rule. Each week when you receive your spelling sheets, the rule or sound will be explained on the top.
