Stormwater retention tanks gradually release rainwater into the sewer system. This relieves the public sewer system and for this reason stormwater retention tanks are already mandatory in some places in new housing areas. Often a retention tank also has financial benefits in offsetting the charge for impermeable area and thus in terms of the stormwater

utilty fee. Besides merely retaining water where all the rain water is discharged into the sewer system at a reduced rate, Speidel also gives you the possibility of keeping back part of the rain water and using it for garden and home.

All Speidel underground tanks are made of high quality food-grade PE. This is confirmed by the KTW test certificate and testing in ac-cordance with W 270. Once you have clarified the official regulations, you can also use your underground tank perfectly safely for drinking water storage. All you need is the Speidel

drinking water kit with lid seal, ventilation pipe and a suitable hole saw. We also recommend installing the underground tank deeper with a manhole extension to maintain the quality of the drinking water by keeping it cold.

With the drinking water kit you can upgrade your underground tank for drinking water storage.

This revolutionary solution provides reliable groundwater protection at any water level; using a module developed by us, all underground storage tanks from Speidel can also be used in groundwater. Due to the automatic water level control in the tank, no pressure is exerted on the container from outside. Compared to conventional systems, in which great outlay using foundation slabs

of concrete or flat, thick-walled tanks is necessary, the groundwa-ter module can be easily installed in all Speidel underground storage tanks.

Groundwater module

A great idea: Our groundwater module is protected by patent.

For manufacturing our under-ground storage tanks we used only high quality polyethylene. What is known as LLDPE is resistant to almost all chemicals – and also to the components of domestic sew-age and the products of its reaction and decomposition. For this reason, our containers are particularly suit-able for use as a closed cesspit. By simply fitting them with a vent pipe, Speidel underground storage tanks

from 2,000 to 10,000 litres can be used as a closed cesspit. And if someday the cesspit is no longer needed (for example, after con-necting to the sewer system), after thorough cleaning, the tank can be used without further concern as an underground rainwater tank.

As early as the beginning of the 1980s we were ahead of our time: the classic rain butt that everyone knows today is in fact an invention by Speidel. But time has not stood still: after the rainwater column tank (see following double page spread), we have now developed the rainwater column with wood panelling.

Our rainwater column tank is de-veloped from the familiar rain butt. It collects a lot more water for the same footprint, thereby making it pleasantly slim.

The static water pressure makes additional pumps unnecessary. You simply tap off your irrigation water with a tap or a hose – we have

provided connections for both. Like all Speidel tanks, our rain butts, too, are of course made of food-grade PE, very thick- walled and robust. This is first class irrigation!

If large quantities of rainwater are to be collected above ground, the industrial storage tank is the right one for the job. It can be set up on any flat area and be easily extended using modules. The industrial stor-

Whether indoors or outdoors: flexi-ble rainwater reutilization systems are the basement tank’s specialty. The 1,500-litre tank is quickly set up and can be easily extended lengthways or at right angles with additional tanks. In addition, three sides of the tank are fitted with flat surfaces and marked for inlet, overflow and withdrawal. A battery of basement tanks can even be connected to the rain collector (see Page 35). As usual with Speidel, this

grey tank is manufactured seam-lessly in one piece from food-grade, thick-walled PE plastic. The large manhole chamber has a diameter of 46 cm and of course a manhole cover. Other tank connections such as a fill-level indicator or a drinking water intake are no problem.

With the connection kit you can connect several rain water tanks to form one system. In this example, we have created a 30,000-litre system using three roto-moulded underground tanks, each with 10,000 litres.
