Officer Runyon Is Springfield's Sew Chief
. The Township Committee at a meeting last night appointed
Police Officer Chase Banyan as the Chief of Police of the Township
of-Springfield, to succeed* the late Chief Edward E.Ruban^ *»' The
new chief baa ..been on the police force- about four years and by
hie pleasing personality and past good record, the ^committee feels
that they have appointed a man who Is well capable *>t 'filling
the office of chief.
The townspeople were greatly in favor of Mr. Runyon'a
appointment and presented a petition to the corn^ mlttee which was
signed by about 3&0 citizens.
Besides holding the office of chief Mr. Runyon Is studying law
in his spare time.
Baby Parade Tomorrow. ^ Everything is In readiness for the
baby parade and carnival to be held tomorrow afternoon o» the
grounds of the Methodist Church In Main Btreet. - The carnival will
start at 3:00 o'clock and the baby parade at 4:00. The Epworth
