SPECIAL TO THIS PRODUCT:INCLUSIONS: All Loadbuster Disconnect Switches are equipped with attachment hooks for use with Loadbuster®—The S&C Loadbreak Tool.
All Loadbuster Disconnect Switches are furnished with tin-plated terminal pads as a standard feature.
Crossarm-Vertical and Crossarm-Inverted Style Discon-nect Switches are supplied with a backup member and hard-ware, suitable for single- and double-crossarm mounting.
EXCLUSIONS: Disconnect switches do not include connectors. Various connector arrangements are available separately as listed in Tables 13 and 14 on page 7.
Branch-Feeder Style Disconnect Switches do not include backup member and hardware or dead-ending brackets. Backup members and hardware and dead-ending brack ets for these disconnects are available separately as listed in Tables 9 and 10 on page 6.
Overhead Pole-Top Style Disconnect Switches do not include a mounting bracket. A mounting bracket for these discon nects is available as listed in the Table 12 page 6.
SPECIFICATION DEVIATIONS: S&C Loadbuster Disconnect Switches in Branch-Feeder, Main-Feeder, and Station Styles are offered with a choice of Cypoxy™ Insulators▲ or porce lain insulators as found in Tables 1 and 2 on pages 2 and 3. The standard insulator color is gray. For special insulators or special connectors, consult your nearest S&C Sales Office.
How to Order a Complete Loadbuster Disconnect SwitchSTEP 1. Obtain the catalog number of the desired disconnect
switch from tables 1, 2, and 3, on pages 2, 3, and 4.
STEP 2. If connectors are required, select the desired connec tor arrangement from Tables 13 and 14 on page 7. Add the indicated suffix letter to the catalog number of the dis connect switch selected in Step 1.
STEP 3. For Branch-Feeder Style Disconnect Switches, select the desired backup member with mounting hardware and/or dead-ending brackets, if desired, from Tables 9 and 10 on page 6. Add the indicated suffix(es) to the catalog num ber of the disconnect switch selected in Step 1.
For Overhead Pole-Top Style Disconnect Switches, select the mounting bracket, if desired, from Table 12 on page 6. Add the indicated suffix letter to the catalog number of the disconnect switch selected in Step 1.
How to Order Handling Tools
Obtain the catalog number(s) of recommended handling tool(s) from Table 8 on page 5. Refer to Specification Bulletin 851-31, “S&C’s Handling Tools: Specifications.”
A NOTE ON CONNECTORS: The Loadbuster Disconnect Switch connector options designated “-C” and “-A” are suitable for hot-line tool handling. The ter minal-pad hole design prevents the connector attachment bolt(s) from turning, and the saddle member of the connector is held against, and is loosely keyed to the terminal pad, by the retaining washer(s). The clamping member of the connector is, in turn, keyed to the saddle. The connector can be easily loosened and tightened by means of the hex nut(s)—without either connector member turning in place.
Although the bolt and the connector saddle are held cap tive, they nevertheless “float” so that, when the hex nut is tightened, all mating parts are subjected to the same high clamping pressure.
With connector options “-G” and “-K” for disconnect switches rated 900 amperes continuous, and with con-nector option “-H” or “-J” for disconnect switches rated 630 amperes continuous as well as overhead pole-top style disconnect switches rated 630 amperes con tinuous, the attachment bolts are similarly held captive by retaining washers and are prevented from turning by the ter minal-pad hole design.

The Loadbuster Disconnect Switch connector options desig-nated “-C” and “-A” (see Tables 13 and 14 on page 7) are suitable for hotline tool handling.
