The masthead is in bold, white text and isn’t hidden by the main image of the front cover showing that it is a new and not very well known magazine so it will be harder to notice what magazine it is called if the masthead was slightly covered.

The black theme of the front cover in the background helps everything stand out a lot more and better like the white masthead making it easier for the readers to read and see what’s happening in the front cover.

The ‘puff’ has a yellow background and is in black text so it stands out better making it easier for people to see showing its importance, it is also just above one of the artists head so we know it was placed there so you will see it because you look at each artist’s face to see what they look like and if you recognize them. The puff is also there to try and make the audience buy the magazine by it saying ‘FREE’ which makes them feel as though they’ll get something for free when buying the magazine.

The man in front of all the other men shows that he is the leader of the band. This is because the others are behind him showing that he has more authority and dominance over them. He also looks a lot different to them all having a different skin tone, is wearing a hat and they all have similar hair styles perhaps saying they’re all the same but he is different to them.

The headline says ‘the temper trap’ and also has anchorage saying ‘EPIC AMBITION’ showing that this is an up-coming band called ‘the temper trap’ to try and promote the band. This is showing that the band is the main focus on the front cover as they take up well over 2/3 of the magazine and the headline showing that they’re an upcoming and good band.

The female artist is the main image of this double page spread and you can tell immediately because she is the only person in the image and at the top left hand side of the double page spread being the first thing we see when we look at this double page spread showing that the article that is written is based upon her and no one else, In the background we have ‘USA’ written showing that that is also linked to the article.

The blue heading to the contents page saying ‘January 2013’ shows importance as it’s the brightest colour in the contents page making the audience well aware of when the magazine was released.

The three ‘lads’ are hanging onto to something dangling all doing different things and smiling looking like they’re enjoying themselves. This tells the readers that they enjoy what they do as their jobs which is creating and playing music for us to hear telling us how passionate and fund they’re of what they do, it shows us that they look at it as more of having fun and hanging out together than working and being bored which jobs are represented as being.

The person who looks to be a woman on the far right side of the contents page doesn’t show any of her face, this could be to show her importance to the band but that it isn’t really shown or noticed by anybody making her feel excluded and not as respected as the other members in the band.

The guy in the middle with black jeans is shown to be the leader of the band as he open his legs to covers two other of the members making him more noticeable and stand out better, he is also giving direct mode as address with the camera making the readers feel more connected and devoted to him that the others who aren’t properly looking at the camera showing his importance to the band.

On the main image the page number doesn’t have any text underneath it saying what the band is called or known as, this shows as that they’re a well-known indie music band and that we should already know what they’re called, we also get the impression that they’re the most important and well known band written about in the magazine as they’re the main image of the contents page. The page numbers are in a bold and

large font to get grasp the reader’s attention so that they read what is written below to help tell the reader that it is important and will catch their attention.
