Joan Brookes I have 5 years of teaching experience specialising in Business; teaching the subject across key stage 4 and 5. Throughout my teaching career I have been an advocate for Enterprise leading the Young Enterprise Company Programme successfully to regional level for three years. I have also been heavily involved in a range of CPD opportunities during my career including becoming a pedagogy champion within my school, engaging in coaching for teaching and learning and completing a Masters in Leadership and Innovation. During my current role as Curriculum Leader for Careers, Work Related Learning and Enterprise I have extensively researched the Gatsby 8 Benchmarks for careers excellence and adapted the school provision to improve careers education for pupils. I am currently working with the Windsor Academy Trust specialising across secondary schools to develop careers education. With an industrial background in marketing I have used my business experience and interpersonal skills to aid my role. This includes negotiation with third parties for trust wide contracts, creation of standardised trust policy and planning documents, careers auditing to build aims and objectives, improved website provision of careers advice and guidance, branded careers-based media formed in collaboration with faculty directors and an increasing network of professional speakers for use in school. I am experienced in leading whole year trips and events, with a programme of enterprise events for targeted students within Windsor Academy Trust.
