• Gujarat has exhibited a 12.5% high industrial growth rate from 2002
-2007. In India’s 10th Five Year Plan and has achieved a GDP
growth of 10.2% as per the set target, which was the highest
amongst all States in India.
• Gujarat contributes significantly to India’s economy across key
sectors including production of Soda Ash, Diamond Processing, Salt,
Petroleum products, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals.
• With 6% of India’s geographical area, the State is home to 41 ports
and handles around 25 % of the country’s sea-cargo.
• Gujarat accounts for 15.14% (USD 114.52 bn) of the total
investments (IEM+LOI+DLI) in India; highest amongst all States in
India
• Contributes 16% of the total national industrial production and
accounts for 19% of India’s cargo
• Gujarat witnessed the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of
10.2% for the year (2002-07) and a target GSDP of 11.2% is
envisaged till 2007-12: highest in India
• During 2001-07, Surat contributed a maximum of 11.5% in the
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to the State: highest among all the
districts in India

Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC)
• Government of India (GoI) plans to develop a
“Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC)” covering a
length of 1483 km linking Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and
Chennai
• The proposed DFC passes through six states in India,
of which Gujarat accounts for a majority share of 38%
(564 km) of the total length of DFC
• The influenced area of 150 km on either sides of DFC
is being developed as “Delhi Mumbai Industrial
Corridor” (DMIC).
• 62% of the total area in Gujarat is under the influence
of DMIC
• The total estimated investments in the DMIC was
amounted to INR 1,23,950 Crore (USD 30,250),
providing an employment potential of 7,90,500 people

• DHOLERA is situated in Ahmedabad district in the Gulf of Khambhat
• Identified as a Greenfield port, it will be developed along with private sector participation by Dholera Port Limited (promoted by J K Group and Adani Group)
• Dholera is in proximity with the coastal line. It is covered by water faces on three sides, namely, on the east face by Gulf of Khambhat, on the north side by Bavaliari creek and on southern side by Sonaria creek
• Proximity to Ahmedabad has provided Dholera a strong locational advantage with a vibrant manufacturing base and investment scenario

Overview:
• Initiated by Federal Government, National Rail Vikas
Yojana (NRVY) was started for improving the
logistics movements across the Golden Quadrilateral

three key areas, Gauge Conversion (GCs), Port
