Operator StationThe operator station provides comfort and protection with excellent job site visibilityand convenient, logical controls.

Joystick Control. The joystick allowsthree simultaneous boom functions andincorporates unique slider switches.

The joystick also operates the auxiliaryhydraulic function and allows the optionof a second auxiliary service for the useof work tools that require more thanone hydraulic service.

Hydraulic System. The Cat ElectroHydraulic system allows all three boomfunctions to be operated simultaneouslyand proportionally. This enablesprecise placing of loads in challengingapplications.

Auxiliary hydraulic functions areavailable on the joystick to allowoperators to utilize more complexwork tools.

A continuous flow auxiliary hydraulicsupply is available for operating toolssuch as brooms that require continuousflow for long periods of time.

Integrated System. The Cat integratedmanagement system allows the engine,transmission and hydraulic systemsto operate with maximum efficiency,control and productivity.

Flow Sharing. Three simultaneoushydraulic functions are achieved usinga full flow sharing hydraulic valve.A load sensing, variable displacementpump allows full hydraulic powereven at low revs.

Kick Down Switch. Engine revolutionscan be controlled by pressing the joysticktrigger, thus reducing hydraulic flow forfine controlled load replacement.

Ease of OperationEase of operation was paramount in the design of the new TH580B. The single joystick withits intuitive, modulated, hydraulic functions, and the new Cat electronic machine informationdisplay are designed to maximize operator efficiency.

Lift Height. The TH580B can effectivelyand quickly place bricks, roofingmaterials and trusses to a maximumheight of 17 m (56 ft).

Reach. Job site obstacles presentchallenges demanding a machine toplace loads at greater distances – witha reach of 12 700 mm (42 ft), theTH580B delivers.

Maneuverability. The TH580B offersexcellent maneuverability, due to itstight turning circle and its three differentsteering modes.

The TH580B has a 48 degree axlesteering angle and no rear tail swing,allowing it to work productively andsafely in confined areas.

Steering Modes. The TH580B offersthree steering modes (two wheel, craband circle steer) to allow an operatorto easily position the machine.Steering modes are selected by asingle three-position rocker switch.Steering position sensors are fitted as standard to all steering modes to be changed while moving.

High Torque Rise Engine. The Cat3054E electronic engine is U.S. EPATier 2 compliant. While continuing to deliver maximum performance, it features improved timing, reducedsmoke and exceptional serviceimprovements. For improved soundcharacteristics a venturi tailpipe hasbeen packaged inside the engineenclosure. An electronic engine delivers:

• Improved low idle performance

• Improved fuel consumption

• Improved cold start

• Increased diagnostic and securitycapability

The TH580B is offered with one engineconfiguration – 92 kW (120 hp).

Transmission. The TH580B has apurpose designed Cat four speedforward, three speed reversepowersyncro transmission.

Axles. The TH580B is fitted withCaterpillar planetary reduction axles.

For improved machine performancein difficult conditions, a differentiallock is available (front axle).

Quick Coupler. A hydraulic IT interfaceis standard on the TH580B.

For optimum versatility, machines canbe equipped with the hydraulic quickcoupler, allowing the operator to quicklyand easily change non-hydraulic worktools without leaving the cab.
