Standard Equipment. The standardmachine offering is the long-life Plus Tipthat provides excellent traction and side-hill stability with a self-cleaning layoutthat resists plugging. The optional self-cleaning chopper blades for shreddingmaterial or the special applicationtraction tip. All choices are specificallydesigned for our Caterpillar steel wheels.

Plus Tips. With Abrasion ResistantMaterial (ARM), have a plus-shapeddesign for superior compaction andsidehill stability on sloped material.A widely spaced 20 tip pattern requiresfewer tips than competitors and resultsin less plugging, lower replacement costand maximum compaction. Plus Tipsare guaranteed for 10,000 hours or fouryears of wear life. They offer the lowestcost per hour of any compactor tips inthe industry.

Self Cleaning Chopper Wheels. Are designed to deliver maximumcompaction and traction. Aggressivechopping action is provided by 20 bladesper wheel. Heat-treated DH-2™, AbrasionResistant Material steel blades providelonger wear. The staggered chevronblade arrangement evenly distributeschopping coverage. Blade center gussetshelp assure maximum refuse demolition.Blades are mounted differently on thefront and rear wheels to maximizechopping and compaction in bothforward and reverse.

Weld-On Traction Tips. Are designedfor landfill applications where maximumtraction is required. These tips performbest in frozen or other difficult topenetrate applications. Designed andbuilt to Caterpillar standards, these tipsare forged for maximum strength andAbrasion Resistant Material is appliedto critical wear areas.

Smooth Wheel Option. If our tipselection does not meet your needs, consider Caterpillar smooth steel wheels. This option ensures that no matter whatlandfill tip you prefer, you get Caterpillarwheels built to our stringent specifications. Our manufacturing and researchengineers work together to design, buildand test a complete power train system. The wheels, a critical component to thetotal system, are manufactured in thesame facility as our landfill compactors. This ensures the entire system iscomplemented by each component.Altering critical components cancompromise our power train systemthat is designed for peak performance. If an off-the-shelf manufacturer’swheels are installed that do not meetour design specifications and do notbalance the load over our final drives, bearing life could be reduced substantiallyand cause premature wear out of othercomponents, resulting in unnecessarydowntime. This situation runs contraryto the Caterpillar goal to keep ourcustomers operating with maximumproductivity, performance andcompaction. This option also allowsour standard axle guard system towork with the components for whichit was designed.

6

Tips and WheelsCaterpillar offers a choice of tips and blades welded on our own steel wheels that will fityour needs. No matter what your choice may be, it is part of the total system our compactorsoffer: maximum production, performance and compaction.
