The 330D MH structural componentsare the backbone of the machine’sdurability and provide for excellentstability. pg. 7

Fixed Riser. Cat® designed and built,1.95 m (6'5") manual tilt cab riserprovides for operating height withexcellent visibility for loading andunloading processing equipment,trucks, and rail cars. Access to thecab is provided by a ladder to theplatform extending around the cab riser.This platform allows for windshieldcleaning. The cab riser can be manuallytilted forward 90 degrees for shipping.

Hydraulic Cab Riser. Optional hydrauliccab riser provides up to 2.6 m (8'6") ofadditional operating height. There iseasy access to the cab platform providedby handrails attached to the riser.

Operator Controls. The ability tomodulate grapple open-close functionis provided on the right side joystick.The rotate function is also modulatedby using a slider switch mounted onthe joystick.

Cooling System. External debrisfilters allow easy access for cleaning.This prevents clogging from dirt and dustentering the cooling system. The optionalautomatic reversing fan purges dirt anddust from the cooling system.

Generator Set. A 20 kW (26.8 hp)hydraulically driven generator set canpower magnets up to 1.68 m (66") indiameter.

Cat® Two-Piece Front Linkage.Offers a maximum horizontal reachof 16 m (52'6") from swing centerand maximum vertical reach of 16.9 m(55'5"). This front is an excellent matchfor the 0.96 m3 (1.25 yd3) grapple ora 1.68 m (66") magnet.

An optional 14.6 m (47'1") two-piecefront linkage has a maximum verticalheight of 15.8 m (51'11"). This frontis an excellent match for the 1.15 m3

(1.5 yd3) Orange Peel Grapple or the1.68 m (66") Walker magnet.

Material Handling Booms and Sticks.Designed and built for performanceand long service life.

Welded Box-Section Structures.Efficiently designed with thick,multi-plate fabrications in high stressareas, which allows structures to flex,dissipating stress and maximizingstrength.

Stress Relieving Booms and Sticks.Maximizes strength and minimizesstructure weight.

Dual Stick Cylinders. Provides excellentgeometry for working close in to themachine or at full reach.

Heavy Lift. Provides additional liftcapacity for handling of heavy,robust objects.

330D MH Two-Piece Caterpillar Front LinkageCaterpillar 330D Material Handler fronts are purpose designed and built for excellent reach,flexibility, and lift performance to meet all requirements of material handling applications.

Engine. Six-cylinder, turbochargedengine built for power, reliability, andeconomy will allow the machine toconsistently perform at high levels.The Cat® C9 engine is designed for lowemissions and will meet EPA Tier 3emissions requirements.

Performance. The 330D MH, equippedwith the C9 engine with ACERT™Technology, provides 9% morehorsepower as compared to theC9 in the 330C MH.

Electronic Control Module.The Electronic Control Module (ECM)works as the “brain” of the engine’scontrol system, responding quickly tooperating variables to maximize engineefficiency. Fully integrated with sensorsin the engine’s fuel, air, coolant, andexhaust systems, the ECM stores andrelays information on conditions such asRPM, fuel consumption, and diagnosticinformation.

Automatic Engine Control Speed.The two-stage, one-touch controlmaximizes fuel efficiency and reducessound levels.

ADEM™ A4 Engine Controller.The ADEM™ A4 electronic controlmodule manages fuel delivery to getthe best performance per liter of fuelused. The engine management systemprovides flexible fuel mapping, allowingthe engine to respond quickly to varyingapplication needs. It tracks engine andmachine conditions while keeping theengine operating at peak efficiency.

Engine ACERT™ Technology meets U.S. EPA Tier 3 emission regulations, with exceptionalperformance capabilities and proven reliability.

High and Square Undercarriage.Provides excellent over-the-side stabilityrequired to handle heavy loads andimprove productivity.

Provides excellent ground clearancerequired to clear obstacles.

Stands up in the toughest applications.

Modified X-shaped, box-sectioncarbody provides excellent resistanceto torsional bending.

Upper structure weight and stresses aredistributed evenly across the full lengthof the track roller frame.

Robotic Welding. Up to 95% of thestructural welds are done robotically,which achieves up to three times thepenetration of manual welds forimproved durability.

Heavy Duty Upper Frame. The upperframe is specifically designed for thescrap and material handling applications.It is built of higher strength materialand thicker steel sections to handleincreased swing loads from the longerfront and heavier counterweights usedin material handling.

StructuresThe 330D MH structural components are the backbone of the machine’s durabilityand provide for excellent stability.

Walker Magnets. The Walker 1.68 m(66") Lift Master magnet can be usedwith the 330D MH. These magnets havebeen designed and engineered for scrapprocessing applications. Ask your dealersalesperson for information on theWalker Magnet.

Orange Peel Grapples. The 0.96 m3

(1.25 yd3) and the 1.15 m3 (1.5 yd3)Orange Peel Grapples are availableattachments.

Work Tool Selection. When choosinga work tool, please consider the worktool application, the variation of thedensity of material to be handled andproductivity requirements. Check withyour Cat® dealer for more details onspecifications, sizes, and other worktool types.

Work Tools – AttachmentsA variety of grapples and magnets are available to maximize machine performancein material handling applications.

Ground Level Service. The designand layout of the 330D MH was madewith the service technician in mind.Many service locations are easilyaccessible at ground level allowingcritical maintenance to get donequickly and efficiently.

Pump Compartment. A service dooron the right side of the upper structureallows ground-level access to the pumpand pilot filter.

Radiator Compartment. The left rearservice door allows easy access to theengine radiator, oil cooler, and air-to-air-after-cooler. A reserve tank anddrain cock are attached to the radiatorfor simplified maintenance.

Air Filter Compartment. The air filterfeatures a double-element constructionfor maximum cleaning efficiency.When the air cleaner plugs, a warning isdisplayed on the monitor inside the cab.

Capsule Filter. The hydraulic returnfilter, a capsule filter, is situated outsidethe hydraulic tank. The filter preventscontaminants from entering the systemwhen hydraulic oil is changed andkeeps the operation clean.

Fan Guard. Engine radiator fan iscompletely enclosed by fine wire mesh,reducing the risk of an accident.

Diagnostic and Monitoring. The 330DMH is equipped with S•O•SSM samplingports and hydraulic test ports for thehydraulic system, engine oil, and forcoolant. A test connection for theCat® Electronic Technician (Cat® ET)service tool is located in the cab.

Extended Service Interval. The 330DMH service and maintenance intervalshave been extended to reduce machineservice time and increase machineavailability.

Cat® Dealer Maintenance. Choosefrom your Cat® Dealer’s wide rangeof maintenance services at the timeyou purchase your machine. PreventiveMaintenance will help you to avoidunscheduled repairs and diagnosticprograms such as Scheduled OilSampling and Technical Analysisare available.

Product Support. You will find nearlyall parts at our dealer parts counter.Cat® Dealers utilize a worldwidecomputer network to find in-stockparts to minimize machine downtime.You can also save money withremanufactured components.
