• Microphone - an acoustic-to-electric transducer or sensor that converts sound into an electrical signal.

The History of the Speaker

• Invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876 in the process of making the first telephone.

The History of the Microphone

• First conceptualized by Charles Wheatstone around 1827, but modernized in 1876 by Emile Berliner who invented the first microphone used as a telephone voice transmitter.
