SAINT PAUL DOG TRAINING CLUB WINTER 2015 1 SPDTC I am writing to convey my very best wishes and sincere thanks to all of you as we wrap up 2015 and shift our momentum into the next calendar year. As we reflect on the past year, I believe that we have many reasons to have enormous pride in our accomplishments and look forward with enthusiasm to next year. Since we are closing out another year, I would like to thank everyone who helps keep our club running. This list is long and I can't mention everyone, but I would like to give special thanks to the Board members, Training Directors, Instructors, Show Trial Chairs, Committee members and Volunteers. It takes many hands to keep the Club running smoothly. Remember to submit online your 2015 titles. We want to be sure and recognize each person’s accomplishments. Indeed, we have so many points of pride that there are too many to do them all justice in an end-of-the- year letter. And there are more than enough to justify enormous optimism as we move forward. SPDTC – and all of you who are part of it – will continue to make this a great training facility in 2016. Thanks for being part of it and thanks so much for helping to make the past year successful. I invite you to join me in anticipating what we will accomplish together in the year to come. President’s Corner Carl Blakely

The end of the year is upon us again. I am seeing many, many Facebook posts from friends and club members who are traveling to Orlando for the Obedience Classic or the Agility Invitational. Last weekend I watched several club members compete in the AKC tryouts for the European Open team. I think all of our programs have seen great success this year, and I see this in our m e m b e r s o n g o i n g s u c c e s s i n competition.
Obedience
St. Paul Dog Training Club will be host ing a seminar w i th Connie Cleveland on 13-14 February 2016. More information and a registration form is available on the SPDTC website. Pat Nevins is coordinating this even, and I'm sure she will answer any questions you might have.
Agility
We will ring in the New Year with a new Agility Trial 1-3 January 2016. The early part of 2016 will see several agility trials offered at our facility. "Home court advantage" is a real thing, so I hope to see many of our students competing at these events.
I have been unable to find time to organize the 2 agility seminars I discussed in the last newsletter. These will be happening early in the new year.
Nose Work
We are adding Wednesday daytime classes for Nose Work. See the website for details.
Therapy Dog
The Therapy program continues to flourish. Information is available via the website, or talk to Camay Blakely.
In conclusion, I hope all of you have had a successful and rewarding year with your dogs. I want to wish the best of the season to all my friends at SPDTC - 2 legged friends and 4 legged friends!
We are now accepting donation for our Banquet. Looking for new or slightly used items for our gift baskets. Please leave your items at designated location at the club. Thank you in advance for your items.
More information to come by emails and the website.

If you and your dog have earned a new title in 2015, use the online form on the club website to enter your title information. You do NOT have to wait until the end of the year to submit your new titles. Also note that the old poster boards have been replaced with print out lists that are posted on the bulletin board in the Club lobby.
Titles are eligible for awards at the annual banquet (see banquet information in this newsletter and on the Club website.) Information on how to submit new titles, the requirements for earning end-of-year awards, and volunteer opportunities are posted on the website.

Member Brags and Wags
Congratulations to the following club members for these special accomplishments!
Mary BenteArrow was the #6 Australian Shepherd in the 2014 Delaney Obedience Rating System. The list was published in the November 2015 edition of Front & Finish. Dogs earn points based on the number of dogs defeated (1 point per dog defeated) when they place in AKC all breed Open and Utility classes. Arrow had 109 points for the year.
Melissa McIntyre
At the GSDCA Nationals this past year (Oct 16th) Linea and I earned High In Trial from the Novice B class.
Also at the GSDCA nationals my other dog, Ceyla, earned High Combined in Rally (Oct 15th).

Tara has a few new titles to announce. A new Rally Novice title has been added to her name. She finished at SPDTC on October 4th. She also has a new Utility Dog title. She got her first leg by winning her class at the GCRA 2015 National Specialty on September 30 (pictured above). Four days later, she got her second leg at SPDTC trial on October 4. The third leg came on October 17, at the TCOTC trial.
Tara also finished her MACH on November 7, 2015 at the Saint Paul Dog Training Club trial, the same trial she got her first QQ two years prior. She was my first MACH, as well, and I couldn’t have had a better partner to learn with. Her enthusiasm and willingness to play made my learning so much easier than it might have been.
She is now officially MACH Int’l Ch DocMar’s Leapin’ to Gnu Heights VCD2 UD RN BN GN MX MXJ
