Opposing Preparatory Priorities!

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:10

“Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

Hebrews 12:3 How ‘bout them Packers! Last night’s impressive road win over the previously unbeaten Arizona Cardinals made a statement about what might be in store for us fans for the rest of the season! Overcoming key injuries and COVID quarantines, this team was clearly prepped and ready to take the field against a very strong team in a hostile environment. Replacement players mean adjusted strategies which often times means delayed or unachieved success. It is obvious that the coaches and players had done their homework and practicing and were ready for the challenge ahead! In the devotion that follows from Sarah Young’s “Jesus Calling,” we are reminded that our lives this side of heaven and the preparations we make to take on the challenges and tests encountered therein ought always begin with Jesus! Our days shouldn’t begin with the first set of emails or social media feed we check while still in bed, they should begin with Jesus! Our days ought not begin with the a.m. mind and body cleansing workout, they should begin with Jesus! Our days, no matter what we anticipate or plan for, begin and end with Jesus and the “good works handiwork” people He has designed, forgiven, and redeemed us to be! Nothing wrong with answering and checking social media and email or working out, for sure. And, when they become opposing priorities to the hearing of His Voice, Will, and Way that’s where we can lose our way and give sin, death, and the devil easy access to our lives. From the Voice of Jesus Calling, “Linger in My Presence a while. Rein in your impulses to plunge into the day’s activities. Beginning your day alone with Me is essential preparation for success. A great athlete takes time to prepare himself mentally for the feat ahead of him before he moves a muscle. Similarly, your time of being still in My Presence equips you for the day ahead of you. Only I know what will happen to you this day. I have arranged the events you will encounter as you go along your way. If you are not adequately equipped for the journey, you will “grow weary and lose heart.” Faithfully relax in prayer and My Word with Me while I ready you for action.”

(“Jesus Calling” Sarah Young 2004)

Winter Sports Registration

October 2021 Dear Parent/Guardian and Student-Athlete, Online winter sports registration will officially be open as of October 15th. If this is the first time registering your child for a sport this year you will notice that we have transitioned to a new registration platform. You will also notice an updated and fresh look to our athletic website which will still be found at www.spartanathletics.org Complete Online Registration opening October 15th – www.spartanathletics.org

If your child did NOT participate in a Fall sport, please create a NEW account and secondly you must verify the new account via e-mail before completing the registration.

If registering for the first time, it is important that you enter your child's Full Legal Name (first and last) as is entered in Skyward correctly, (i.e., Benjamin and not only Ben or hyphenated last name, etc.) along with DOB. This will help pre-populate many fields.

If this is your SECOND season of competition this school year (i.e., registrant participated in a Fall sport), then simply log into your current account.

Pay Athletic Fee – MUST be done ONLINE

$80 per sport – (NOTE: Global Studies students already have this included in tuition)

Participation Physical Examination Form or Alternate Form

If a new physical is needed, print, and have doctor complete physical form. We encourage you to upload electronically within the registration.

A physical examination on file dated before April 1, 2021, will require an Alternate year form. NOTE: the Alternate year form is now a part of the electronic registration, and NO paper form is needed for that.

When all registration is complete, your child can pick up their PRACTICE PERMIT in the main office ONE WEEK prior to the sport season start date. We recommend you call ahead to ensure your permit is ready for you. 2021-2022 Athletic Code Parent/Athlete “REBOOT” Meeting

If you did not attend the pre-year athletic meeting, the presentation can be found under the “Quick Links” section on the main page of www.spartanathletics.org . It is highly recommended that you refamiliarize yourself with athletic department policies and pertinent information.
