You have a set of compensation or HR information about employees. This data is tracked over time.
It is not easy to get an idea of the trends for each employee.
Thankfully in Excel 2010 you can insert a graph in a single cell, a little known feature called “Sparklines”.
This allows you to visualise the evolution of the data over time for each employee.
Select the Trend cell. Select Insert at the top of the menu.

Choose your style (line, column) and fill the popup: select the data for the graph, and where to insert it.

Click OK. The graph is created.

You can then “play” with options such as changing the colour of the sparkline, adding markers to make the highest, lowest,
first or last data point the most visible (and change its colour), and
shanging colours for the markers and the sparkline
You can make these changes to all sparklines at once (select them all) or only on specific sparklines by using Group or Ungroup
An easy way to highlight trends into your Compensation files.
