Spanish Immersion Summer Program

June 8 – August 28, 2020

Enroll your school-age child grades K-4, 5-9 years old! Full week (M-F), full-day 7:00am-5:30pm Minimum 2-week enrollment to all 12 weeks!

The program features

• Weekly cultural themes enriched by presenters, cool projects, & activities!

• Weekly Spanish grammar/vocabulary building activities beginner to advanced in an immersion setting with Native and bilingual teachers!

• Learning & fun with music, dance, arts and crafts!

• Make new friends...games and plenty of time to play...outdoor & water fun on the playground!

• Keeping our minds sharp - daily reading and math games! 10% discount for 2nd and multiple children enrolled…infant through school age!

Un viaje por el mundo hispanohablante Journey Through the Spanish-Speaking World

¡Bienvenidos! We begin the summer by introducing the countries of the Spanish-speaking world exploring geography, culture, and travel!

June 15-19

Las Olympiadas: España, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Republica Dominicana The Olympics: Spain, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic

We will design our own Olympics as we learn about and represent the countries of Spain, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. In small groups, our Olympic teams will play sports & games, teach each other about the countries represented and celebrate concepts of team-work and leadership!

June 22-26 El Arte ibérico Iberian Art

A hands-on exploration of Spanish art. We’ll take inspiration from vari-ous artists, historical eras, and art media, and take home some cool projects.

June 29-July 2 (4-day week)

¡Celebramos Colombia! Let’s Celebrate Colombia!

We will explore the rich music, dance, and culture of Colombia! Chil-dren will learn a short choreographed performance & plan and partici-pate in a cultural celebration!

July 6-10 Una Exploración Amazónica An Amazonian Exploration

The incredibly biodiverse Amazon Rainforest offers us a wealth of activities for this week. Animals, plants, weather, and conservation are just a few of the topics we’ll explore.

Civilizaciones Antiguas de Centro America Ancient Civilizations of Central America

We will learn about the fascinating ancient civilizations that thrived in Mexico and Central America. We will learn about the history of the Maya and Aztecs, pyramids and architecture in their advanced cities, the beautiful art they created, and much more!

July 20-24 Artesania indigena de Latinoamerica Indigenous Arts and Crafts of Latin America

We will learn about and recreate some the beautiful arts and crafts created throughout Latin America such as weaving, pottery, and others.

July 27-31

¡Buen provecho! México Enjoy! The Foods of Mexico

We will explore the less common culinary delights and flavors of Mexi-co, learning about regional dishes and preparing and enjoying our own creations.

August 3-7 Las Islas de Suramerica: los Galapagos a Tierra del Fuego The Islands of South America: Ga-lapagos to Tierra del Fuego

South America, rich in geographic diversity, is also home to many inter-esting and famous islands. The children will learn about the abundant animal life of the Galapagos, the mysteries of Easter Island, and the natural beauty, the geographical significance of Tierra del Fuego....and more!

August 10-14 ¡Los Muralistas de Mexico! The Mexican Muralists

We will learn about the great Mexican muralists Diego Rivera, José Clemente, Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. Learning from these great artists, we will design and paint our own group mural.

August 17-21 ¡Celebramos Puerto Rico! Let’s Celebrate Puerto Rico!

We wll explore the rich music, dance, and culture of Puerto Rico! Chil-dren will learn a short choreographed performance and plan and Participate in a cultural celebration!

August 24-28

¡Fiestas Latinoamericanas! Latin American celebrations!

We will culminate the summer by exploring traditional Latin American celebrations and preparing a performance for our summer-end party!
