Spain’s Flag
• The design of the flag consists of 3 horizontal stripes red, yellow, and red. The yellow being twice the size of each red stripe.
• This flag was adopted as the national flag in 1978.
Spain’s Official Language
• The official language of Spain is Spanish but is better known as Castilian in the country of Spain.
Spain’s Main Religion
• The main religious denomination in Spain is by far Catholicism which is a little over 70% of the population.
Spain’s Location
• Spain is located in Southwestern Europe just below France and just above Algeria and Morocco.
Popular Music of Spain
• Different regions of Spain have their own musical traditions for example:• Andalusia is known for its
Flamenco style.• Argon has a preference for
Jota.• Catalonia is known for its
Sardana music.
Cultural Dances of Spain
• Flamenco is a form of song and dance that is very popular in Spain.
• Flamenco got its name from a native bird of southern Spain.
• It’s popularity has spread through all parts of the world.
Football in Spain
• Football or the sport we know as Soccer is the most popular sport in Spain.
• Spain’s soccer/football team was the World Champion of the first World Cup ever held on African soil.
Bull Fighting in Spain
• Many believe bull fighting to be a popular sport in the country of Spain but it was actually outlawed quite recently in January of 2012.
Government
• Spain is a constitutional monarchy.
• Their government is outlined by their constitution which was approved by the people in 1978.
