SOUTH AUSTRALIA’S SPACE ECOSYSTEMSouth Australia is the heart of Australia’s space economy with a thriving space ecosystem. It is the hub to access Australia’s national space infrastructure, being home to:

• SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre

We have a growing space sector of over 80 organisations with passion and energy, backed by State Government support through:
• The South Australian Space Industry Centre and Space Forum series
• The Space Innovation Fund, including a Space Incubator Program (Venture Catalyst Space) to foster new ideas and provide a pathway for entrepreneurs to join the local space economy, and connect local innovators with international mentors and potential global investors

• Space scholarships, internships and work experience programs to cultivate interest and develop people who wish to pursue a career in the space industry
• Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program, an intensive, five-week, live-in space studies program delivered jointly by University of South Australia and the International Space University
• Hamilton Secondary College Space School with a designated facility and specialist curriculum to lead space education
• Hosting hackathons such as the CNES-led ActInSpace, NASA Space Apps Challenge and the Amazon Web Services/Deloitte Gravity Challenge
LOT FOURTEENLot Fourteen is Australia’s first ideas and innovation neighbourhood. Located over seven-hectares, next to world-class universities and within Adelaide’s CBD, it is growing highly skilled talent in key industries like artificial intelligence, cyber security, creative technologies, and defence and space. The site includes:
• The Space Innovation Precinct, home to the Australian Space Agency, SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre, Mission Control, Space Discovery Centre and other key space organisations
• The Defence and Space Landing Pad
• FIXE (Future Industries Exchange for Entrepreneurship) start-up hub, providing an innovation incubation and growth hub for start-ups and serial entrepreneurs looking to scale up in fast growing industries
• The Australian Institute for Machine Learning and the nearby Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing

DEFENCE AND SPACE LANDING PADThe Defence and Space Landing Pad is a one-stop-shop that supports international companies to begin their business journey in South Australia and take advantage of the state’s strengths in defence and space.
