Manufactured Home Replacement Grant Funds SARATOGA – The Town of Saratoga has been awarded a NYS Community Development Block Grant to replace substandard older mobile homes with new Energy Star units at no cost to property owners. Income eligible homeowners residing in the Town, including the Villages of Schuylerville and Victory are encouraged to apply. Team KristineCAPITAL REGION – In 2009 Kristine Greco was diagnosed with a form of childhood brain cancer called Anaplastic Medulloblastoma. Approximately 350 children in the United States are diagnosed each year with this awful disease. Kristine fought hard against this very aggres-sive cancer and underwent extensive brain surgery and a course of grueling treatment including chemotherapy and radiation. Following a yearlong battle, Kristine graduated high school (with honors) and was on the path to a bright future. Recently, after being cancer free for about a year, a follow up MRI showed three large tumors in Kristine’s brain. Kristine was given a poor prog-nosis and little hope but she and her family refuse to give up or lose hope. There are various treat-ment options available. 4-H Shooting Sports ProgramBALLSTON SPA – The Saratoga County 4-H Shooting Sports Program will be returning to the Saratoga County Fair with three activities that are favorites of fairgoers. Simulated shooting with a laser system, archery and air gun ranges, found in the Conservation area, are being updated and will be ready when the Fair opens on July 19. Youth and adults test their skills in the Conserva-tion Department using bows and arrows to pop bouncing balloons, hit the bulls-eyes on paper tar-gets, or take aim on a foam target used in many archery contests. The Saratoga Shooting Sports Program uses the funds raised at the fair to train new instructors, to keep the cost of participation low and to fund scholarships that are offered each year at the Saratoga County 4-H Achievement Night. Guided Bicycle Tours STILLWATER – Saratoga National Historical Park will host a series of leisurely, guided bicycle tours. These bicycle tours are free of charge, and take place in the evenings, so no entrance fees are involved. Rides usually cover approximately 5 miles and will be held on the following six Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm: July 6 and 20, August 3 and 17. Saratoga National Histori-cal Park (the Battlefi eld) is located between US Route 4 and State Route 32, Stillwater. Bottle Museum Announces New ScheduleBALLSTON SPA – The National Bottle Museum in Ballston Spa is reducing the number of days of operation during the sum-mer from seven days a week to fi ve. Traditionally, from June 1st through September 30th, the museum has been open daily, 10am-4pm. This summer, the days of operation will be Friday through Tuesday, with the museum closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Visitors to the National Bottle Museum can view over 2,000 bottles ranging in age from the early 1700’s to ap-proximately 1976, as well as stoneware containers and art glass. A portion of the museum’s second fl oor contains The Artists’ Space at the National Bottle Museum, an area where artists can exhibit their work. GLENS FALLS – The Parents in Support of the Arts (SPSA) is helping the South Glens Falls Music Department purchase a baby grand piano for the newly renovated High School Auditorium.
