Performance
Ergonomics
Crown’s leadership in
ergonomics positions
the operator for optimal
performance, in touch
with the truck, the
surroundings and the
task at hand.
You’ll appreciate how the SP 3500 Series
improves productivity the minute it rolls into
your facility. It’s the result of innovative engineering
that takes operators to new levels of performance,
while delivering substantial cost-savings.
What about uptime?
Every productivity gain
goes out the window when
the stockpicker is out of
service. Crown’s exclusive
Technovation™ – the fusion of
technology and innovation –
gives you industry-leading
reliable performance, backed
by our advanced diagnostics
and comprehensive system
of support.
The SP 3500 Series builds
on Crown’s 40 years of
real-world stockpicking
expertise to solve your
application needs.
The Crown SP 3500 Series
uniquely solves your
application challenges, the
ones that create inefficiencies,
limit your options and cost
you time and money. As a
result, your operators can
take full advantage of
industry-leading visibility,
ergonomics and confidence-
inspiring stability, in addition
to optimized performance
and control. These are the
productivity factors many
others lack.
You also need the flexibility to
meet the particular challenges
and needs of your facility. The
SP 3500 Series excels here,
as well, with four application-
specific models and a range
of options.
Confidence
Stockpicking at heights
requires confidence,
and the SP 3500 Series
has the backbone
others lack, with
engineering that keeps
operators solidly
centered on their work.
Faster. Safer. Productivity.
The SP 3500 Series gives you a versatile
solution for small
parts picking and a
variety of tasks in free
and guided aisles.
Visibility
In stockpicking, what
you can’t see will slow
you down. On the
SP 3500 Series, what
you can see is a design
for superior visibility far
outclassing any other.
Any way you stack it.
The SP 3500 improves productivity by delivering
performance you can safely use.
A visionary design demonstrates Crown’s
ergonomics leadership with the highest levels
of visibility, comfort and stability.
Ergonomically driven.
The SP 3500 Series comes
by productivity honestly,
because it’s based on
proven ergonomics. You’ll
find ergonomics advantages
all around the operator’s
compartment. The large
platform gives operators more
room to move. Standard power
steering provides smooth,
precise operation. Crown’s
unique anti-fatigue floor
mat features a microcellular
composition that reduces
the effects of vibration and
standing fatigue, while
enhancing operator stability.
Operators also benefit from
storage areas for portable
task tools, as well as Crown’s
Work Assist™ accessories,
including an optional universal
clamp system for convenient
mounting of fixed tools
such as RF terminals and
scanning guns.
Ergonomics drives design on the
SP 3500 Series. It accounts for every
aspect of the operator-stockpicker interface,
from the control orientation and size of the
platform to side gates and portable task tools.
Control orientation also
demonstrates Crown’s
ergonomics expertise. Crown
uses a twist grip, similar to
the type used on motorcycles,
versus the joysticks used
on many other stockpickers.
With Crown’s solid, fixed
control handle, you’ll see the
difference in operator stability
and confidence, especially
when stopping and starting.
Neutral PositionWhile the neutral position appears
to be similar on the two designs,
the Crown design provides a hand
hold without the risk of initiating
unwanted traction, as is possible
with the joystick design. Crown
maintains this stability advantage
during forward or reverse travel.
Forward TravelTo activate forward travel with
the Crown twist grip, operators
simply position their index finger
over the cam and push downward.
This allows the wrist to stay very
close to a neutral position while
the hand rolls over the top and
behind the handle.
Visionary design.
A huge visibility advantage on the SP 3500 Series eliminates tunnel vision and helps operators safely
improve productivity.
exceptional visibility, far
superior to any truck in
its class. You won’t find
a larger platform window
or a clearer view of pick
locations and intersecting
aisles. At lower elevations,
a clear visibility mast offers
an unobstructed view. As
a result, operators perform
tasks faster, easily locating
stock items before they
reach them.
Putting an operator in a
stockpicker with limited
visibility is like putting a
tightrope walker in a
straightjacket. It’s not likely
to inspire confidence, safety
or productivity, especially at
heights. The SP 3500 Series
offers a clear advantage.
Based on extensive ergonomics
studies, it focuses on how
operators work at their best
in stockpicking applications.
That explains its CompetitorCrown
SP 3500 Series Competitor
Reverse TravelFor reverse travel with the Crown
design, operators hook their index
finger over the cam and pull it
towards them. Again, the wrist
stays very close to its orientation
in the neutral position. Whenever
the twist grip is released, the handle
returns to the neutral position.
Ergonomics analysis and
user preference have
confirmed the benefits of
Crown’s twist-grip design.
It’s more comfortable to use
than the competitors’ pivoting
joystick design because the
wrist moves naturally. In
addition, Crown’s control
handle gives operators a
performance edge with its
raised index finger cam.
Crown’s index finger cam
facilitates easy
directional changes
while the fixed
control provides
operator stability.

Top travel speed in transport (mph)
Travel Speed LoweredImagine working on the ledge of a three-story
building every day. It’s easy to see how confidence
affects stockpicking performance, productivity and
safety. The Crown SP 3500 Series builds operator
confidence with a substantial stability advantage.
Operators quickly notice
the stability advantages
of Crown SP 3500 Series
Stockpickers over any other.
Crown’s unique Load Path
Stability Design is the key to
a solid foundation. It evenly
distributes the force of the
load from the platform
through the frame and power
unit, through the drive unit
and to the ground. That’s why
the SP 3500 Series features
the largest and heaviest
drive unit and largest drive
tire (13”) in the industry.
It’s been designed to
deliver superior performance
and stability over uneven
warehouse floors and proven
in the most demanding
applications on Crown’s
stockpicker, reach and
turret trucks.
Unlike other stockpicker
trucks that incorporate
plastic into much of the
power unit, the SP 3500
Series uses heavy gauge
steel in the skirt, doors and
battery cover. This additional
weight, combined with the
heavy-duty mast, gives the
SP 3500 Series substantial
load capacity advantages at
height and further contributes
to superior stability.
Performance that adds up.
Side gates, integrated into the truck’s control system, protect operators when and
where intended, and easily move
out of the way when not needed.
Their sturdy construction gives
operators an added measure of
stability and confidence when
performing picking tasks.
It’s your productivity advantage.
Crown’s AC motor, AC traction control and
Access 1 2 3 Comprehensive System Control
give you the performance advantage you need
to improve stockpicking safety and productivity.

Friction BrakingMotor Braking + = Optimum braking at heights
Level 3
Level 2
Level 1
The Crown Intelligent Braking System uses Crown AC traction
motor braking combined with optimum amounts of friction braking.
The appropriate level of braking is applied dependent upon lift heights,
travel speed, direction of travel and other operating conditions.
Crown’s linear speed control (stepless) eliminates wasted productivity typical with a stepped speed implementation. Competitors
use simple height switches on the mast, while the SP 3500 Series uses a
variable height sensor to measure the exact platform height and determine
the optimum speed level. This important productivity feature, optional on
many others, is standard on all Crown stockpickers.

On many stockpickers,
braking at higher elevations
easily shakes an operator’s
confidence, including sudden
stops that may throw the
operator or load off balance.
The SP 3500 Series avoids
this scenario with Crown’s
patented Intelligent Braking
System, which combines
motor and friction braking.
Crown’s Access 1 2 3
Comprehensive System
Control continuously
monitors operator lift
height and other variables,
automatically adjusting
braking force to ensure
appropriate braking at
all heights.
You’ll also benefit from
other features designed
to deliver performance you
can safely use. Crown’s
Intelligent Steering, another
Access 1 2 3 active safety
feature, slows the SP 3500
Series automatically as the
steering angle increases.
Linear speed provides smooth
acceleration from the lowest
to the highest elevations.
And the SP 3500 Series
further improves productivity
with the industry’s fastest
travel speeds.
